Eminem Verse Makes It Into The Top 20 Of All Time

Postby ,-,'-{Bar}-',-, » Nov 8th, '07, 18:50

“Renegade”-Jay-Z - The Blueprint (2001) Eminem 1st verse

Absent the antics. Minus the mom mashing. No Hailey in sight, Mr Mathers' lyrical gymnastics outshined S. Dot’s verse over the melody of the beat he himself created. The verse that made Eminem all good in the hood on a critically acclaimed album, and gave a true blueprint on how to flow yet deliver a message. Dropping with the bassline and rising with the background strings, then breaking the pattern for onomatopoeia, Mr. Kiss My Ass was certainly the Renegade on this joint.

damn i agree em's verse on that song was amazing I'm glad he was recognized for it.
Just like on the song from the re-up "were back" Eminem knows that the song renegade was a great song because he says it himself and that just shows that Eminem knows what people want to hear from him, but i think now that more and more people and starting to recognize him for his amazing verses that he might just go back to doing just that.

and if anybody identifies the guy get it
i'll hide for five minutes
come back, shoot the eye witness

Die b*tches, bastards, brats, pets
this puppy's lucky i aint blast his *ss yet

Best Eminem song ever!

That is a sick verse, I love the whole song.

Another great verse where Em outshines his arguably bigger counterpart is "Dead Wrong" with Big. If you've never heard it, check it out: http://youtube.com/watch?v=3HxiAamcHa8. Of course there's also Em pwning DMX (not a great lyricist) in "Go to sleep" http://youtube.com/watch?v=n45T2D1E2Tk. Also, "Off the wall," Eminem tears it up with Redman http://youtube.com/watch?v=18wztS46IeE.

It really was awesome watching Em kill the best lyricists on their own shit back in the day.

And people talk about Royce killing Em nowadays...maybe, but all that means is that Royce's A-game is better than Em's C-game he's currently bringin. Is Royce's A-game better than Em's? I don't think so. Most people find it hard to hang with Em's A-game. And this includes dudes like the great Krs one.

Sadly, he's now starting to get recognized as the "fart guy" instead of the "classic lyricist" he had goin.

both royce and em are on there A game in the track bad meets evil and i class it as very very equal bewtween them to, then after that eminem does get better but for one reason, he has millions of pounds invested into him and royce doesnt, so royce doesnt have the beats or the mixing, or the flashy studios to perfect everything, ya know ? and even at that death is certain album has some great tracks that equal some of eminems great tracks

yeh, he deserved to be known for that if he cant see what its doin to his credebility

i agree with that, i for 1 think till i collapse (verse 1 i think) is one of eminems best verses and is way above renegade verse, i think the guys at the site judged it coz of it it did, i mean one verse changed the whole outlook on this white guy with blonde hair, still though id say eminem has alot better verses than reneagade

Agreed, there are better ones, and other songs that he's outclassed his fellow MC's (I've edited my original post to link to some of em).

Still, Renegade is one of the songs that actually did finally get him some credit with other races than white boys, I know that from first hand experience. Though, some people actually got bitter that he basically embarrassed Jay-Z on his own track, but they're just haters.

That's a great achievement. It was a hell of a put together verse. Now lemme check out this top 20..or read someone said someting about Remember Me being in there. I too usually skip over that track and it's probably my least favorite on the MMLP.

is there a different version of that song... because I listened to the song while I was reading the verse but that verse was not on the song that I have... so I was just wondering if there were more then just one version of the song... because the first verse starts off on my song as....

" Since I'm in a position to talk to these kids and they listen
I ain't no politician but I'll kick it with 'em a minute
Cause see they call me a menace; and if the shoe fits I'll wear it
But if it don't, then y'all'll swallow the truth grin and bear it
Now who's these king of these rude ludicrous lucrative lyrics
Who could inherit the title, put the youth in hysterics
usin his music to steer it sharin his views in his marriage
But there's a huge interference - they're sayin you shouldn't hear it
Maybe it's hatred I spew, maybe it's food for the spirit
Maybe it's beautiful music I made for you to just cherish
But I'm debated disputed hated and viewed in America
as a motherfuckin drug addict - like you didn't experiment?
Now now, that's when you start to stare at who's in the mirror
and see yourself as a kid again, and you get embarrased
And I got nothin to do but make you look stupid as parents
You fuckin do-gooders - too bad you couldn't do good at marriage!
(Ha ha!) And do you have any clue what I had to do to get here I don't
think you do so stay tuned and keep your ears glued to the stereo
Cause here we go - he's {*Jigga joint Jigga-chk-Jigga*}
And I'm the sinister, Mr. Kiss-My-Ass it's just the"

and his second verse is this...

"See I'm a poet to some, a regular modern day Shakespeare
Jesus Christ the King of these Latter Day Saints here
To shatter the picture in which of that as they paint me
as a monger of hate and Satan a scatter-brained atheist
But that ain't the case, see it's a matter of taste
We as a people decide if Shady's as bad as they say he is
Or is he the latter - a gateway to escape?
Media scapegoat, who they can be mad at today
See it's easy as cake, simple as whistlin Dixie
while I'm wavin the pistol at sixty Christians against me
Go to war with the Mormons, take a bath with the Catholics
in holy water - no wonder they try to hold me under longer
I'm a motherfuckin spiteful, DELIGHTFUL eyeful
The new Ice Cube - motherfuckers HATE to like you
What did I do? (huh?) I'm just a kid from the gutter
makin this butter off these bloodsuckers, cause I'm a muh'fuckin RENEGADE!"

Maybe he meant the original version with Royce da 5'9''. Em says "He's Royce, he's the king of Detroit" there, instead of scratched *jigga*. And probably there're some other minor distinctions
