depends on the game, if its sandbox, lets say,crackdown or saints row, graphics don't matter because those games were designed for gameplay and art style ( graphics don't have to be about polygons and effects all the time ), but lets say, GTA4, that game thrives on graphics to impress, graphics made that game fun for me.
Story & Gameplay are most priority for me, but the graphics need to be decent, if their trash, it takes away from the experience and it makes it less fun for me,
Technology brings freedom for gameplay elements, thats why most major 3rd party games don't appear on the wii.
Call of duty games, IMO have both the gameplay and graphics in order. Halo games are not GREAT technically, but the art style more than makes up for it.
Last example, burnout games = gameplay, and thats what makes them fun; Forza 3 = graphics, as realism NEEDS graphics , and thats whats appealing to people who are fans of racing sims, etc.
