I better put my battle armor on because it's time for our weekly segment titled "Time to go ape over one quote from a major game developer employee!" This week's segment involves Akira Yamaoka, chief composer for Konami, taking a brief jab at the Nintendo Wii when talking about Silent Hill V on Game | Life.

The outrage stemmed from this quote, "No plans. The Wii user isn't a hardcore user." Trust me, if there's one battle you don't want to wade through, it's calling the entire Wii crowd a bunch of casual gamers. There are the hardcore gamers who own Wiis. Also there are "hardcore" games available for the Wii but I think these types of titles will be only sprinkled onto the gaming market every so often.
Nonetheless, what do you folks think? For you ones with a Wii, do you think it stinks to be labeled as a casual gamer? Also here's a good clip of Yamaoka talking about if Silent Hill V will head elsewhere, which sparked his comment about the Wii:



WN: What is the future of the Silent Hill series?

AY: We're making Silent Hill 5 for next-gen consoles. Are there any other platforms besides that? [laughter]

WN: There's the Wii.

AY: Ah, the Wii. Wiiiiiiiiii... Silent Hill Wii. Can we do it? Will players like it?

WN: Yeah! There's a lot of potential there, using the remote as a flashlight, or a knife...

AY: Yeah, there's potential.

okay im here everyone. Read the interview and i think its a buncha bullshit. Just because the Wii's graphics arent as advance and not only hardcore gamers play it but also non and casual gamers that punks says its not for hardcore users....pffffttt bullshit.

What is a hardcore game? What do u define as a non-hardcore game, cuz if u say its somethin like Wii sports or Wario Ware, then the hardcore games out number them by far. Becuz people see a lot of cartoonish characters they automatically jump to the conclusion and say its for kids there for its not a hardcore game...pathetic . But I wud say the Wii is lackin in bloody games with mature content and suggested themes and stuff like that. It wud be nice if it had more, so it wud attract more adult gamers who like to play games of the sort. But other wise the Wii has plenty of "hardcore games" watever u define that as.

But the Wii is not only for hardcore gamers... its gaming console for EVERYONE but at the same time it has a good amount of hardcore games, and a good amount of non-hardcore games making it the number 1 console around the world.

i class a very challenging game with alot of play time in the story, along with a great story, great gameplay as a hardcore game.

wiisports is not a hardcore games its a party game, games like mario party and big brain academy is party games not hardcore games.

are the only 3 hardcore games on Wii, usually i would say that paper mario is a hardcore RPG, but in super mario RPG they focuses too much on platforming and not enough on RPG, and it turned a game witch usually gets 90-95% in nitnendo magazine reviews, into a game that got 70%, not saying it isnt good...it is, but it isnt hardcore and isnt anywere near the previous 2 paper mario games

there is alot of hardcore games coming out for it though, like smash bros., super mario galaxy, mario kart, fire emblem, final fantasy titles ect.

silent hill games are the shit, lost count of how many times i finished part one on the playstation back in 99, but silent hill on the wii? ,looks outta place, I don't think many kids are going to have nice nights playing those type of games, Silent hill is nasty.

in my post i sayed i think there are 3 truely hardcore games out on wii, and i said that there were alot coming out soon.

oh and for your info, idk were your from but Fire emlbem isnt released on wii over here (UK) yet, neither is Battalion Wars 2, im pretty sure tony hawks isnt out yet, and i aint ever heard of guilty gear so im guessing it isnt released over here yet either, i also wouldnt class Exite truck, or spiderman 3 as hardcore games...or even good games for that matter, as for the rest they aint my type of game, and also Resident evil 4 was a re-make for wii that every console has so its loses its value, anyone worth there skin who had a gamecube had the game on gamecube and shouldnt have been sad enough to by it for wii

But since ur makin this such a big issue i will treat u like a child and edit my post and delete all the upcoming hardcore games if it will make u feel happy so u wont get angry and insult me.
