Sonic The Hedgehog (on the 360 and the PS3)

Postby AliJack » Apr 18th, '09, 17:10

Why does everybody hate on Sonic the hedgehog? (i don't mean sonic unleashed, the one before it.)
It wasn't a perfect game, but the first few days i played the game, i was hooked, it seemed like a great game. people rate it 4/10, whereas i'd give it atleast 7.5/10.
What does everybody else here think?

My favorite Sonic of all time is Sonic Adventures for SEGA Dreamcast. It's was amazingly fun.

I haven't played Sonic The Hedgehog (the latest) and never will but I have played the demo of Sonic Unleashed and it was hilarious. Me and my friend would fight for the best time and we spent quite a while playing it trying to beat each other's score. It was fun but it's not really a good game. The game plays for itself for a big part of the game, during gameplay. I gotta say though, it's fun.

You're a little off topic, but doesn't fun usually constitute a good game? I mean, if a game is fun, it means it's good, if i'm not mistaken.

The games on the next gen systems were horridly average. All the sonic games have been since Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast.

I am off topic to a certain extent but it's still Sonic.

Actually fun does not necessarily constitute a good game to be honest. You might find a game fun because it has the values a fun game would have for you e.g If you like Adventure/Action sort of games like Golden Axe: Beast Rider then you might find it fun because you can beat the shit out of monsters with your axe/sword/whatever but genereally it's a horrible game in most aspects. It does not reach the standards games should reach at present.

That's what probably happened for a game like Sonic The Hedgehog which you might have found fun just like I did for Sonic Unleashed but it was actually rubbish for most people.

It 'd be nice to know the reasons why you like Sonic The Hedgehog (since I haven't played it) cause for me it's always been the crazy running (in 3D) with the epic scenes (e.g in Sonic Adventures with the killer whale right behind you).

I found Sonic Unleashed fun because it sort of reminded me of the old Sonic Adventures but I think the game played more for itself more than the older version on Dreamcast.

This is a Sonic Adventures epic scene withe the killer whale (this part of the game does sort of play for itself). Btw the player is not too good either when it comes to the loop:

I have Sonic Adventure, I got it recently. Well, I suppose I liked Sonic 360 (easier way of saying it) because it was the first sonic game i played in 3D, I actually liked the storyline, the levels, and the characters. The powerups were fun too. I had a few problems with it, though. Glitches, loading times, and not much replayability, the game feels like its unfinished. Same goes for Unleashed with the replayability, but with all these negative points, i can't say i didn't emjoy the game. oh, and Sonic 360 has a whale scene, but not as epic as the one in adventure. :(
