Jason Gideon's FBI profile team is called to an Arizona College campus where students and teachers fall victim to arson. However the pyromaniac profile doesn't quite apply: the culprit didn't make sure (s)he could enjoy the crimes by observing the victims perishing. Dr. Spencer Reid finds a better way to fit the facts with a rarer serial killer logic: a 'religious' compulsion, in this case both triggered and given form by a boundless obsession with the number three- if this theory holds true a third, possibly triple, arson is at hand...

Episode 3: Won't Get Fooled Again

When a copycat bomber starts terrorizing a Florida community, Gideon is forced to ask for help from an old foe -- a famous bomber in prison for killing six FBI Agents.

Episode 4: Plain Sight

The team profiles the Tommy Killer, who rapes and murders women forced to watch him in upper class houses, where he destroys status symbols. As soon as the press notices that detail, he makes a habit of quoting 17th century poetic ballads on Death conversing with its victims. They are confident enough about their profile of a resentful, skilled white middle class man to rule out a less well-organized black attacker but arrest the suspect to make Tommy manifest himself, alas by an untraceable phone call- which precisely provides a crucial clue.

Episode 5: Broken Mirror

One of a lawyer's identical twin daughters is kidnapped. The kidnapper contacts him and demands ransom money. The team's investigation, however, reveals that he doesn't really want the money, but both girls.

When the unit is brought in to identify a long-distance serial killer who is shooting victims at a certain time of day, word leaks to the press that the killer may be a cop.
