The Fellowship of the Ring
An ancient Ring thought lost for centuries has been found, and through a strange twist in fate has been given to a small Hobbit named Frodo. When Gandalf discovers the Ring is in fact the One Ring of the Dark Lord Sauron, Frodo must make an epic quest to the Cracks of Doom in order to destroy it! However he does not go alone. He is joined by Gandalf, Legolas the elf, Gimli the Dwarf, Aragorn, Boromir and his three Hobbit friends Merry, Pippin and Samwise. Through mountains, snow, darkness, forests, rivers and plains, facing evil and danger at every corner the Fellowship of the Ring must go. Their quest to destroy the One Ring is the only hope for the end of the Dark Lords reign!

The Two Towers
Sauron's forces increase. His allies grow. The Ringwraiths return in an even more frightening form. Saruman's army of Uruk Hai is ready to launch an assault against Aragorn and the people of Rohan. Yet, the Fellowship is broken and Boromir is dead. For the little hope that is left, Frodo and Sam march on into Mordor, unprotected. A number of new allies join with Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, Pippin and Merry. And they must defend Rohan and attack Isengard. Yet, while all this is going on, Sauron's troops mass toward the City of Gondor, for the War of the Ring is about to begin.

The Return of the King
The War of the Ring reaches its climax as the dark lord Sauron sets his sights on Minas Tirith, the capital of Gondor. The members of the fellowship in Rohan are warned of the impending attack when Pippin cannot resist looking into Saruman's palantir and is briefly contacted by the dark lord. King Theoden is too proud to send his men to help without being asked, so Gandalf and Pippin ride to Minas Tirith to see that this request is sent. They meet opposition there from Denethor, steward of the city and father of Faramir and the late Boromir. Denethor's family has acted as temporary guardians of Gondor for centuries until a member of the true line of kings returns. This member is none other than Aragorn, who must overcome his own self-doubt before he can take on the role he was destined to fulfill. Meanwhile, Frodo and Sam continue to carry the One Ring towards Mordor, guided by Gollum. What they don't know is that Gollum is leading them into a trap so that he can reclaim the Ring for himself. Though Sam suspects his deceit, Frodo is starting to be corrupted by the Ring's power and the mistrust of Sam this causes is fully exploited by Gollum. The only way good can prevail in this contest is if the Ring is destroyed, an event that is becoming harder every minute for Frodo to achieve. The fate of every living creature in Middle Earth will be decided once and for all as the Quest of the Ringbearer reaches its climax.

"I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me.
A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day.
An hour of wolfes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crushing down! But it is not this day!
THIS DAY WE FIGHT!
By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!" :toocool:

I had to choose the 3rd movie, why, because it finally ended! Don't get me wrong, the movies are filled with budding romance, adventure, middle-evil magic, creativity, originality, and makes you uncover a part of your imagination that you never knew existed. But 3 hours for the first two movies, and than a little over 3 and a half for the Finale, now that's pushing it. I could never go and see these why they were in theaters, I tried with the first one, but it was so long and drawn out that a lot of people began idle chit-chat and you lost focus. However, at home I can watch them at my convience. 30 minutes here, an hour there, and so forth.

Yeah, they each have their uniqeness about them, that's for sure. They build a climax that keeps you moving on to the next film...Definetely a film worth having in your stock...

Funny thing is I can't think of the books as of single parts.. It's a whole for me, so it's probably the very reason I can't choose.

The Fellowship of the Ring ends at point where Merry and Pippin are getting kidnapped. The Two Towers book starts with Aragorn, Legolas [ ] and Gimli chasing them. So the way I see it is just that putting everything in one book would make it uncomfortable to read :shifty: I actually was watching a documentary which said that it was the way Tolkien saw it - not a trilogy, just one book, with The Silmarillion being the 'prequel' - it basically explains EVERYTHING. Honestly, The Silmarillion was too much for me to comprehend :sweating:

Yeah, I went to buy the book, and I saw they had the whole thing as one, 900 and some pages, or it broken into 3 parts like the movie. I chose the 900 pages one. Because something told me they probably edited the 3 part series and took out important plot information. So I chose the agony, lol, of reading 900 pages. I did it though, I'm so proud of myself!
