Yeah, that was sad.

Will Smith is still a stretch in his dramatic strides but he's gotten a lot lot better over the years and that was a very good performance.

Any father / son relationship to that effect, whereby there's a reliance, automatic emotional bond and partnership is powerful. Also, the kid in that movie is of course his real son...

So their real-life dad / son bond that's an underlying reality, only adds to its effectiveness. If i was doing that with my dad, that would feel very awkward though lmao. Male on male emotion always feels slightly embarrassing unless high, especially dad to son. And it would feel especially awkward in that context, dramatic emphasis and character acting.

Yeah also, I actually thought that was a really good movie.

It got awful reviews, mostly due to it apparently being 'forced' emotional trite but, I really didn't think that it was. And I'm a real hardass when it comes to that stuff, I like realism and fake emotion or cheese makes me cringe...

But I didn't get that from that movie. It felt rather genuine, even if its ultimate aim was a bit self-indulgent... so what. I think a lot of critics are now marking movies awful just if they're not.. TOTALLY original or if they are predictable. Some movies aren't meant to have huge left-turns or be massively original, it can still be a great movie. Some of the criticisms were dumb as fuck.

36/100 on metacritics, really awful reviews, didn't know it had so many bad ones, but who gives a shit about critics, the people loved it, look at the imdb rankings and reviews :y: The movie really made me cry

I watch a lot movies as well, and some of the movies mentioned are better than the one I'm going to list as an overall movie.

However, NO movie ever made is more sad than Lilya 4-Ever.

I promise you that. It's none of this lovey dovey forbidden love crap, it's none of this dramitised bullshit, it's pure raw emotion that makes this movie so disturbing and sad.

If you can get through that in it's entirety and not feel any real sadness, you've got no heart.

I like Requeim and it's one of my favourite movies ever, but it's more of a head fuck dark movie than it is sad.

Give Lilya 4-Ever a try and it will give you a whole new meaning for the word sad.
