I haven't seen too many war movies, but one that sticks to my mind is Casualties of War. It doesn't hurt that Michael J. Fox is in it (one of my favorite actors ) but I loved Sean Penn in it as well.

i got a claustrophobic feeling when they were going through the burning oil fields rofl great scenes btw but the movie itself, the shit they were going through, Jake Gyllenhaal and Jamie Foxx - loved it.

LOVED it. we watched it at school and spent like 2 hours on talking about it, the meaning, the metaphores and the book it was based on, it's great.

I liked Flags of our Fathers best because it went beyond the battles to the life of the soldiers after the war.
