Movies That Didn't Need Sequels

Postby _Steven_ » Mar 24th, '11, 23:12

Saw - As I discussed with Emady, the original was great for how sloppy it was. The movies afterwords just made people forget how good the first film was.

Terminator 2 - Terminator one was a great movie and Terminator 2 may arguably be the best sequel ever made. Flipping the script and having the iconic Arnold Terminator be the hero was just an epic idea (Christopher Nolan must have had something to do with it). Terminator 3 and Salvation were just repetitive though the latter did have potential being the first one in the post apocalyptic future.

The Matrix - Revolution was just dreadful. Whether or not Reloaded should have been made is personal preference.

Ocean's 11 - :( Such a great movie. They didn't need to recycle the damn thing

Any others spring to mind?

Pirates of the caribbean, the first was great in every way but then the sequels were awful.

Saw should stop after the first. And Harry Potter, well you just said something so stupid. It`s like ending The Lord Of The Rings when the fellowship is formed.

one of the funniest films ever imo, but i guess only if you were old enough to have known the movies they were spoofing or had even seen them, im sure its at least half as funny if you dont get the references :sweating:

the others were funny, the 2nd was really good too, but none were even close to the original, they brought back spoof films actually :coffee:

the problem is, movies that make money always have sequels, like harry potter, shrek, the matrix, and others that were mentioned. even the saw films, they didnt blow up at the box office, but they always cost less than 10 million to make, so they were continued because they made money, and stopped when the series was continuously posting lower opening weekend ticket sales

Saw - it was awesome, I loved the plot and how it was explained in the end. The next parts were just.. Eh.

Transformers. They didn't really need Megan Fox either.

Matrix, although I liked the following parts.

Ocean's 11

Are We There Yet?

Friday, definitely. Next Friday and Friday After Next were ok only.

Home Alone 3 sucked elephant cock.

The Lion King.. :'(

Donnie Darko, although I haven't seen S.Darko lol is it worth watching? I think Donnie Darko was an awesome movie that really didn't need anything else.

There's probably more, but those are just from the top of my head. And about 'The Lion King' - I think it was a perfect movie and the sequel kinda killed it.. It's still one of my top movies though, I just don't think about the sequel. Anyways, my point is that most of the Disney sequels blow. Except of Toy Story, it was still the shit.
