LIL_B wrote:You guys are still overrating the most average films there is - it seems you all only watched a handful of films. Fight Club is one of them. Bunch of fucking simpletons. My list is already done, but y'all too skank for me, ain't posting.

Are you talking only about the first one of the trilogy or the whole trilogy?
I think you should clarify this - for me, The Godfather II ranks higher than The Godfather. And The Godfather III will not make it into the shortlist. The same goes for The Matrix.
I'll post mine next week.

c'mon son....
Aone10 wrote:I actually enjoyed watching Spring Breakers, but to say that it's much better than Fight Club is just laughable.
Aone10 wrote:And yes, I'd say RT is trustworthy for the fact that they give you both the overall score from critics and the overall score from audiences, but never has it stopped me from watching something I want to watch.
Aone10 wrote:At the end of the day, it's all your subjective opinion, but one thing that can be judged are such things as screenplay, acting, and cinematography.... all areas in which Fight Club absolutely shits on Spring Breakers.
Aone10 wrote:I watched it once and never cared to watch it again, it was certainly entertaining but nothing that demands multiple viewings.
Aone10 wrote:I posted the RT scores to show you that you are in a minority in your opinion that Spring Breakers is far better than Fight Club.
Aone10 wrote:I'm not one to reference aggregated sites such as RT for arguments, but this is the rare case that demands it as I feel your opinion on the matter is just ridiculous, especially since you went as far to say that it's much better.
Aone10 wrote:I just find it difficult to take any argument telling me Spring Breakers is much better than Fight Club serious... especially when you then said you believe it will be re-rated in the future and be viewed in a light similar to such a brilliant and innovative film as great as 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Aone10 wrote:I say it's subjective because that's what opinions are.... however, that never stops anyone with differing opinions from disputing them, using those areas that can be quantified as means of carrying out an argument.
Aone10 wrote:James Franco was by far the best thing about Spring Breakers, but it does not top Brad Pitt or Edward Norton's performances in Fight Club.
Everything from the plot to the narrative writing and dialogue was just fantastic in Fight Club. It's dark dramatic and yet comedic nature coupled with the execution of the actors is what I truly love about it.
And for the record, Fight Club did not perform as well at the box office as studio execs thought it would and was initially met with polarizing reviews from critics. However, as you know, the film has aged well, becoming a critically acclaimed and commercially successful film.
Aone10 wrote:In order for films to reach such a status in the future, multiple redeeming qualities need to be present, and aside from Franco's performance (which has already been acknowledged and applauded) what else does the film possess that will make critics and audiences WANT to revisit? It certainly isn't the mediocre to bad performances given by it's teeny bopper stars or it's oh so riveting cliché plot revolving around bad and reckless decisions made by youngsters during spring break....
Aone10 wrote:You are making Spring Breakers out to be far more complex than it really is.... at face value, all you really get is that today's youth is easily corrupted by materialism, fueling their fantasy of a "gangster" life, causing them to make decisions they don't have to make or to put it simple, the good girls gone bad scenario. You can further elaborate on that using unnecessary verbiage, but it is what it is.
Aone10 wrote:There is an underlying sense of female camaraderie amongst the girls, but I don't buy all the "female empowerment" bullshit that some people say they get from the film.
Aone10 wrote:I wasn't a big fan of the excessive use of cut scenes or neon lighting throughout... I thought it's execution in capturing that dreamy atmosphere you speak of was weak.
Aone10 wrote:Overall, I give the film a decent 7, mainly due to Franco's hilarious performance throughout... it's almost satirical. The "look at all mah shit" and the silencer blow job scene killed me.
Aone10 wrote:The minority thing isn't meant to be taken that far, I'm sure there are plenty of people out in the world that would place Fight Club amongst their favorite films, more so than the amount of people that consider Spring Breakers to be better than Fight Club.
Aone10 wrote:And link me to thread in which you discuss Spring Breakers, I must have missed it.
