Name any good recent Sci Fi movies

The other night a new acquaintance mentioned that there are no good recent sci-fi movies. Nobody came up with a good counterexample, so we talked about a few of the classics from 20-40 years ago.

Well, here's your chance to prove him wrong. What good sci-fi movies have been produced in the last 10 years or so?

I felt Prometheus was underwhelming. And by underwhelming I really mean disappointing. High hopes for the sequel though.

I actually liked it, even though most people i know feel the same way you do...can't wait for the sequel :y:

I re-watched Prometheus last night only to recall how much of a piece of shit film it is. I'd like to know how you two find it remotely enjoyable? The script is an utter mess filled with nonsense that happens to recycle most of Alien and still manages to deviate it from the Alien universe at the same time. The Alien film franchise really could have been something special but given Alien 3, Alien: Resurrection, and the two AVP films (albeit non-canon), I'd lost hope long ago. And Prometheus just shit down any remaining optimism. A lot of the points covered here also reflect things that nuisanced me during the film. Goddamn it Ridley Scott.
