Upcoming Doctor Who Series, episode leaked

Postby MistaVijilantee » Jul 19th, '14, 08:31

I don't know if many of you watch and/or are fans of this show but I've been watching it since I was quite young and am a big fan.
Anyway, the new series is coming out on August 23 and it should be wicked yada yada.
The other day a black and white unfinished version of the 1st episode was leaked - I quickly downloaded that shit - and I've watched it.
Anyone else seen it? What were your Versace thoughts?

I've never really watched any Doctor Who, but I'll probably watch a few episodes for Peter Capaldi (The Thick of It is one of my all-time favourite shows). The trailers have been pretty cool as well

I've watched the leak of the first episode and it's actually pretty decent, Capaldi looks to be promising.
Certainly better than some of the shit in recent years - some of the Matt Smith episode.

If you watch it more than just Capaldi I'd recommend checking out some of the old episodes Tom Baker, Jon Pertwee 70's era stuff.
Shoddy effects but most of the acting & stories are great.

I'm probably the biggest Doctor Who fan on the forum (see evidence here -> and just below this post) so I'm super excited for Series 8. I read the leaked scripts and they seem pretty good (whether that translates to screen is another question).

Vilij, does the first episode drag on as long as the script makes it feel?

I'm not here to compare about whose the biggest fan haha, I've been watching for my whole life pretty much - I've noticed your Avatar & Sig a few times - but it's dope that others on the forum are fans.
I can link you to the episode if you want?
Honestly, it does a bit but I've got a pretty short attention span so anything that goes for 75 mins is hard for me, it has some of the Steven Moffat stupidness in it otherwise it's quite an enjoyable episode.
The lizard cunt ruins some of the scenes but Capaldi's performance is enough alone to make it work.
It's not the most earthshattering opening the show has ever had, but its solid.

Whose your favourite Doctor bruh?

Nah, no link, if I'm going to watch the episode I want to watch it when it's finished.

That's a hard question, man. For me, it'd be between Patrick Troughton, Tom Baker, Christopher Eccleston and Matt Smith. I really couldn't decide.

Nice,
I think that Matt Smith played the Doctor well but I only really enjoyed his first season.
I felt his other seasons were let down by over complicated, boring plots & stupid catch phrases.

Did you see The Enemy of The World - the Patrick Troughton episode they found a while ago?
My favourite Doctors are probably Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Christopher Eccleston & David Tennant.

I like the rest - they all have their strong points but the ones I mentioned IMO have better episodes.

I haven't, no, but I bought Tomb of the Cybermen not that long ago, and DAMN, that's a good story.

Yeah, Pertwee and McCoy are great too. I used to love Tennant's Doctor but I've severely gone off him while rewatching, which is a shame because I love Tennant as an actor and a person in general.

Huge fan of Doctor Who. David Tennant stands out for me by far as the best Doctor out of all of them, with Matt Smith being second. He's goofy as fuck and childish, which can be annoying at times, but also has some of the best speech moments in the series i.e. Pandorica Opens, Vincent and The Doctor, Eleventh Hour, Time of the Doctor. I don't like Eccleston much.

Still catching up on the old stuff, but I have to say that firstly I love both Troughton and Baker, and I absolutely positively cannot stand Baker or McCoy.

Tennant and Smith are definitely neck and neck I can never decide which is better. Eccleston is my least favorite of the new series. Capaldi is doing a really good job I think. Being relatively new to the show I didn't know how much I would like an older doctor but hes been great so far. I like his business attitude.

After his first seasons Matt Smiths era was incredibly weak in my opinion - due to the writing.

THis season has suffered slightly from that as well however 'Mummy On The Orient Express', 'Robots of Sherwood' & 'Listen' have been some great episodes, mainly due to Capaldi's acting.

What do you guys think of this season?

Obviously it's never going to be the same as classic Doctor Who but I expect more than some of the shit they're putting out.

Thought it's been really strong with the exception of one or two episodes. But I'm also not of the group of people who think the Matt Smith era was weak for any substantial length of time. That might be because I wasnt watching on a weekly basis I binge watched he entire thing.

Honestly, this has probably been the strongest season since Moffat took over. There has only been one episode that's disappointed me, which was "Robot of Sherwood" (I don't know how you think that's one of the stronger ones).

I thought Eleven was great in all episodes, but had some really bad storylines (usually when Moffat attempts to do one spanning multiple episodes), and got better over time.

I agree with SG. Aside from Robots of Sherwood, I've at least liked all the episodes, ESPECIALLY Flatline, Listen, and Into the Dalek.
