Review- I can nearly guarantee this movie is the best 2008 movie you’ve never heard of. I can’t even think of writing a summary for this movie, because every time I try, it ends up sounding like Twilight, which is unfortunate. Now, I haven’t seen Twilight (though I originally wanted to because I’m a vampire fan), but everyone I’ve asked, even die hard fans of the novel, say it was horrible. Basically, this movie is everything Twilight could have been. Let the Right One In, is an indie (independent) Swedish film- based on a book of the same title- about the love that blossoms between a normal child and a vampire. However, don’t expect this to be a traditional horror movie. On a scale of 1-10, 1 being least scary and 10 being most, I’d rank this a 3. And I scare easy too. It’s also not a full romance, so guys don’t classify this as a chick flick. What makes this movie truly amazing is the development of the characters, how the relationship grows, and the atmosphere/lighting of the film. This movie seriously gave a breath of fresh air to the cliché vampire movies that have plagued the U.S. market. However, do be warned! This is not a traditional horror movie. Not that there isn’t violence and gore (because there are some pretty gruesome scenes), but I can almost guarantee you that you won’t be scared. However, if you left Twilight disappointed and wanting more, check out this movie. There's a good chance you will like it better.
