Robert Neville is a scientist who was unable to stop the spread of the terrible virus that was incurable and man-made. Immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and perhaps the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague -- The Infected -- lurk in the shadows... watching Neville's every move... waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered... and quickly running out of time.
Father-Daughter Concept
I love how they chose Smith's youngest daughter to play the role of Marley, his only child in the movie, who actually creates a spiral of events that leads to the dramatic conclusion!
Smith's Performance
Smith doesn't disappoint. He impersonated the character of Dr. Neville like he was meant to be, as described in the book. His acting is impeccable. I love how he formed the bond with the German Shepard, which Smith made it seem astonishingly real. The demons he faces inside for creating the earth's destruction and ending the lives of millions, including his wife and daughter, is what really pushes Smith's character. Smith showed aggression, hate, love, and insanity and brought an A+ performance to the Cinemas. They thought of using Tom Cruise as Dr. Neville, what a huge mistake they would have made, Smith pulled this off without even breaking a sweat
