Summary- Tony Stark, wealthy owner of Stark Industries (a U.S. weapons manufactoring company), finds himself kidnapped by terrorists while on a promotional tour in the Middle East. Discovering that these terrorists are using the very same weapons that he had built, Stark is held captive in a cave and forced to build a prototype bomb for them. With his life in danger, Stark decides to build a metal suit armed with many weapons and capable of withstanding gunfire. When he eventually escapes, he decides to perfect his suit and use it against the terrorists who stole his weapons and find out who in the U.S. had smuggled the weapons to them.
Review- 2008 was a good year for superhero fans. Iron Man (along with that little movie called The Dark Knight) was one of the reasons. Whereas, The Dark Knight had a grim and serious overtone, Iron Man was humorous and light-hearted. The casting of Robert Downey Jr., who was in a career slump, as Tony Stark was a risky maneuver but it definitely turned out to be a success. He was convincingly arrogant, promiscuous, selfish, witty, and everything else that encompasses Tony Stark. The movie itself was well written and had many parts which caused me to smile and laugh. Iron Man was a surprise hit to me, and although it’s mood is the opposite of the Dark Knight’s, both movies are stellar top-tier superhero movies.
