Just watched it and got completely blown away, one of the best movies ive watched in AGES. Anyone seen it?

It is an amazing movie. I love how it shows the sides of India that makes me cringe. It's on my list of movies to review .

i thought it was over-rated, i mean after i got to know that it won like 8 oscars , i was lookin for a worthy performance by all actors in the movie, but sadly if didnt live up 2 my expectations.i mean the "slumdog" has a british accent, he has never been to britain and probably never studies in a british skool, how did he get 1.. and that frieda chick...frankly guys she aint that hot.
i might be 2 harsh but if you want 2 enjoy this movie keep your expectations on a real level.

Well, basically all of Asia, including India, learn British English. My Chinese cousins speak with a noticeable British accent and they spell words the British way, like colour, etc. It's probably because India and parts of China were owned by Britain long ago, so their influences definitely seeped over.

The movie itself is also British produced so, yeah more reason for the accents . Just thought to clear that up.

Personally, I thought the actors did a really good job, especially the younger kids. Oh well, to each his own.

Thats opinion, imo she is simply beautifull and the movie is still one of the best ive ever seen.

If you think that's weird...why did a British film win the American Best Picture ?

It isn't really a sob story. Unlike most romance movies, it's not specifically trying to be a tear-jerker. I enjoyed it mainly for showing aspects of India that most people don't even realize exist (ex: child labor, deliberate handicapping of children to get more sympathy, etc. etc.)
