In my mind, he's a carbon copy of Jason Campbell, but less mobile

keep hating...we were missing one piece to this puzzle and that was a quality QB. Carson hasn't been at his best but he's always played better than Jason Campbell. Defenses constantly stacked 8 in the box to stop run DMC that it was easy for Campbell to get yardage at times. Just with the threat of Carson's arm, defenses will hesitate to have 8 man fronts.

Different between Jason Campbell and Carson Palmer...?

it comes down to one thing, Carson Palmer can take over games and put the team on his shoulder. Jason Campbell never could.

I know they run a similar system to Cincy in Oakland, but is Carson even in football shape? He's been sat at home since the end of the 2010 season 'retired'. Unless the Raiders become a consistent playoff team with him at the helm, a first and a conditional pick is steep. Very steep for a QB who turns 32 at the end of the year.

yes he's in great shape, as he has been workin in Cali all off season. Btw 32 year old QBs are not OLD. Are you kidding me? The two best QB in the league are over 32 (Tom and Peyton.) This is the QB position not Running Back...so quit mentioning age. Don't you remember the likes of Jim Plunkett or Rich Gannon who we both traded while everyone thought they were done or too old?

Anyways, did we pay a high price? Yes...did we need to? Yes. Are you are sayin we wouldn't have had a ruined season with Kyle Boller as our QB? you kidding me.. This the first time since 2002 (9 years) that we've been 4-2, we aren't about to ruin that for some random 1st round picks that might or might not ever work out. Plus, the Raiders are stacked in talent, we dont need any more Top Quality draft picks, we just need depth. Depth can easily be found through the last rounds in the draft (especially the raiders who are notorious for fucking up their first round picks but making great decisions in the later rounds.)

I was not comparing their skill sets, just their age.

Going into the 2012 draft with only two picks, one in the 5th and one in the 6th, isn't an ideal situation. But like you mentioned, they have youth at every position.

we're not going into the draft with only two picks? Quit just reading random blogs on websites or ESPN that doesn't know shit. We lost Nnamdi Asomugha, Robert Gallery, and Zach Miller (3 top contract losses) which will give us at least two more 3rd compensatory picks and probably another 4th. If Carson can just play a little bit better than Jason Campbell and have the raiders be feared a bit as a passing team then that is enough to put us over the top. An elite running team with solid passing and a young talented D with an extraordinary special teams? Sounds like a formula to success, regardless of expensive draft picks that might or might not help us in the future.

Worst case scenario, if we do need draft picks we can always trade a player or something. Michael Bush is in a contract year and I doubt we'll pay him. We might just trade him in the offseason for a 1st round (if he plays to status)

Palmer needs more time, this is gonna be rough at first

& he is great, and with Davis dead, they may finally turn things around.....next season

We didn't send a first rounder for him to sit. He'll be fine, he wont be asked to do too much and hopefully our team will rally around him and make up for his lack of preparation.

Yeah it'll be rough at first but he'll be good later on...

Btw...this team that you say is turning around is a Al Davis built team. Every single player here with the exception of Aaron Curry and Carson Palmer were chosen by Al Davis, either thru the draft or the FA. So Al Davis dying has no positives with the exception of motivation for the team.

Btw why next season? We're 4-2 for your information having just passed the hardest part of our schedule

Broncos W
Bills L
Jets W
Pats L
Houston W
Clevelnd W

we play:
Chiefs
Broncos
Chargers
Minnesota
Chicago
Miami
Green Bay
Detroit
Chiefs
Chargers

I see us beating the Chiefs at least once, beating the broncos again and splitting a game with the chargers or chiefs. (that's 4-1) I see us beating Minnesota and Miami but losing to Green Bay, Chicago and Detroit (that's 2-3)

that comes out to a record of 10-6....how is that not a sign of turning things around?

I never said they wont do well this season, I just don't see them going to the playoffs. But that's still would be a great season for the Raiders

Al Davis threw away countless players and coaches because of his asshole ways (he benched Marcus Allen for two years) & he was willing to let his team suck cause of his hatred for lane Kiffin
www.deadspin.com/5057269/al-davis-relea ... g=al-davis

Raiders are in such a better place now that revenge ass is gone, agree or disagree

Raiders could do well this season, its very possible in this season. I would of never expected the Lions to do so well.

Yet ill wait until I see Carson play again, if the rust can wash off or if he is going to be another forgotten raiders qp

Palmer is looking like the tin man.& he just threw another int.

Those draft picks are looking pretty good right now.

I'm only commenting on this cause I refuse to watch the packers kill the Vikings
