I actually thought Arbeloa was Bale at different points last night, crazy.

I didn't watch his last games , but we call him in Spain "cono" (road cone), because you put a cone in his place and it does a better job.

Bale improved a great deal... just when the pressure was close to boiling point. He's been pretty much solid ever since.

So true, man. He is playing GREAT lately.

He was a semi flop on the way to a total flop but got his shit together & turned it around all the way.

I don't necessarily like Arbeloa but I gotta say, he's a very tactical player.
He doesn't do tricks, he isn't fast but he's a smart mofo.

I think people are too hard on him sometimes, not just in Spain.

I agree in part, I think he helps a lot sometimes, but also he made big fails playing with the national team.

I have a friend who hates him so hard, that it is almost funny to watch the games with him..he is screaming the whole time "Arbeloa que malo eres" (Arbeloa how bad you are). But yeah maybe he is a bit overhated, specially in Spain.

He's the old fashioned type of defender which makes him look outta place playing around players of that caliber & that is the reason people would easily see that & pick on him but at the same time he's been able to do his job for the most part... esp. under Mou.
