I was a bit sceptical when the rumours started at first, thinking it might hurt his legacy if this two months don't go so well. But then I realized nothing can damage his legacy (at least not for us Arsenal fans).

And to be honest, what I saw him do against us in the Emirates Cup this summer + some clips I've seen from the MLS, he still got it. Of course he won't have the same pace (he's 34) but the technique, intelligence, and his amazing sense for goals is still there.

He's been in great form for the New York Red Bulls. Isn't he averaging a little more than 1 goal every two games?

The Cahill fee is believed to be around £5m. Bargain.

Even though that's aimed at City. :flutter:

That's the first ever recorded chant at Stamford Bridge, with a total of 4 people involved.

Yup! What better way to celebrate it than to echo City's European prowess! :worship:

I hope so. :smoking:

Just let AVB build his team over the January and summer windows. I'm sure next season will be different.

Cahill appears to want more money than Chelsea are willing to give him. Just take the contract.. how many chances will Cahill have to join a top club? Not many. I'm sure we're offering him a better contract than what he gets with Bolton anyway. Obviously I don't know the ins and outs, but it does appear he's being a little greedy.

Maybe he reckons if he stays and goes on a free in the summer that £5 million transfer fee goes straight to his wages?

Awful perfomance tonight. Went out with no ambition and tried to hoof the ball to Ba everytime. Cabaye, our most creative player, was bypassed completely. Why Vuckic and Raylor started over Benny and Santon is beyond me.

Pardew's been great this season but he got his tactics all wrong today. Liverpool deserved the win, but were there for the taking with such a poor midfield. More ambition and better tactics we could have ended our dreadful Anfield record.

And I'm sorry but Cahill is a poor buy. Have you seen him for Bolton this season? Admitelly he's had poor players around him but no way in hell is he Champions League class. No improvement on what Chelsea have imo.

Absolutely delighted that Arsenal have signed Henry on a 2 month long loan. At his peak he was undoubtedly the best player in the world and he set the Premiership alight for years. It's also nice to see how many non-Arsenal fans are happy to see him back.

I really wonder how many more errors De Gea will be allowed to make before he isn't given any more chances. He lost that game for Man Utd.

Chelsea just aren't the same team anymore. David Luiz is absolutely awful at times and his positioning is dreadful.

It's turning out to be a weird season really, no one seems to be looking unbeatable and on the whole the English sides are definitely at weaker than they have been for a good few years. At this point in time no teams are looking particularly lethal.

Can't believe we missed this opportunity.

Title winning sides don't do that, even if we deserved to win.

Typical City is alive and well in 2012

Crisis at Chelsea, IMO.

Eh it's Daily Mail. Take everything they publish with a grain of salt as it's usually a load of crap. It may hold some truth, but I'm sure AVB will be asked in a press conference. If he says he doesn't want to talk about it, it's a true story. If he says it's false I'd leave it as that.

How is this "typical City"? Lmao.

Last week's results were crazy. Chelsea losing, Utd losing and City losing.

The 3-1 Villa result looks worse than it was. We were constantly knocking on the door but they caught us on the counter.. surprise, surprise! If AVB refuses to spend, I think it could cost him his job. I hate speculating about his job safety as I back him 100%, but he needs to accept the fact that we are performing below par. You either spend money to strengthen the squad, or you could face losing your job if results don't turn around. Honestly, I don't see us getting out of this slump without signing at least a creative midfielder.

I feel sorry for Fernando lmao. Fantastic strike that hits the bar. That's just been his luck throughout 2011. I just hope he gets some form of luck this year lol. Especially when Drogba's off to ACON.

Roman's £5m New Years Eve Party - that's pretty much what we're paying for Cahill.

We better turn it around today. If we can't beat Wolves I will agree that we're in a crisis. I think we're verging on one.

City losing in the last minute against Sunderland after dominating the game, with the chance to go 3 points clear?

That's as typical as it gets.

I thought you meant it's typical City finishing the year top of the table.

Speaking about City, apparently Bridge is on £90,000 per week. Unless he's willing to take a drop in wages, I don't see him moving. £90,000 a week for him.. you could get a star player on those wages.

Chelsea Team News

01 Cech
03 Cole
04 David Luiz
17 Bosingwa
26 Terry
06 Romeu
07 Ramires
08 Lampard
16 Meireles
09 Torres
10 Mata

Interesting. Are we still playing a 4-3-3? If we are, who's really going to fill Daniel's boots? I don't see anyone capable of doing so. Maybe Ramires. I think we should be playing a 4-1-3-1-1 with Mata just behind Torres. We need Mata in the centre creating chances, that's what he bought him for and that's where he excels. We'll see though.

Interesting bench.
