computer problem....

ok so heres the situation

computer gets turned on....makes it to the screen where you type in your password.

after the password gets entered, it goes to a black screen, no icons, no background, and the bottom toolbar is there with the start button and the time. but it doesn't allow the mouse to click the start button.

obviously its a window explorer problem, but anyone aware how to fix this?

Have you tried System Restore?

maybe a virus?....boot into safe mode and run a virus removal program
