And the exclusive will keep them going for a LONG time.

3DS - Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, Smash Bros, etc.
Vita - Uncharted, Resistance, Killzone, etc.

They ain't going anywhere else.

But then it'll be a pathetic over-charged excuse for a phone.

The Vita will cost like £240 here in the UK for the WiFi model. That's more than half the iPhone 4S' price and other top smartphone currently available. Not to mention it has physical buttons, PSN (I think?), a lot of gesture support and some fantastic specs. It's certainly the best we're going to get from portable gaming for a while. I've seen a trailer for Fifa 12 running on the Vita.. graphically it's close to consoles and the amount of things you can do on it is amazing.

What I'm getting at is that the Vita offers far greater functionality for gaming than current generation smartphones. This will appeal to those who want to purely game on the move. They'll be getter a better experience as well as saving a load of money. But how many of these gamers are out there to buy the product? That's debatable.

In the long run I think portable gaming consoles will be made obsolete though due to the lack of demand.
