AIM and MSN don't work. Why?

Postby bLuEsHiFt » Jan 23rd, '05, 10:54

I want to talk to some peeps off the D12WB and AIM and MSN doesn't work to me. I have accounts but why?

AIM error:
The Instant Messaging service cannot be reached.
MSN error: Sorry, were unable to sign you to the .NET Messenger Service at this time. Please try again later. 80072efd

Yahoo! Messenger works very fine, but these two don't.

Please help me get rid of the errors and log in succesfully.

- Thanks!

Possible solutions

* Open MSN Messenger and click on tools, then options, then connection tab. Untick the "I use a proxy server box". Try to sign in. If this didn't work tick it again.
* Make sure if Internet Explorer supports 128 bits encryption. Open Internet Explorer and click Help, then About Internet Explorer. If the Cipher Strength is anything less then 128 bits download and install the Internet Explorer High Encryption Pack. MSN Messenger needs encryption to authenticate (check your username / password)
* In Internet Explorer: click Tools, then Internet Options, click Lan Settings in the connection Tab, click the "automatically detect settings" box and hit ok twice to confirm. This will let Internet Explorer find out the best way to connect to the Internet via the current network.
* If you have a network: try to check if your proxy settings are the same as on a different pc on the network where messenger does work. You can find the settings on the connections tab in Internet Explorer (see previous item)

Though it's most likely downtime mate, your using msn 7 beta aren't you?
Hope it's working again for ya soon.

Yes, it is.

you could always take the easy route and use e-messenger or webmessenger if ya cant be bothered with the proxy server thing, Blue.
