Help with extentions...

Postby J Won » Nov 9th, '07, 04:12

My fuckin' computer keeps wanting me to add in ".mp3" every time I have an MP3 file and I want to rename it. How do I make it so no matter what I name the file, the computer always recognizes the file as an MP3 file. OP= Windows XP.

If I have understood you right I think you need to hide file extensions.

In Explorer click on Tools > Folder Options > View

then check the box next to 'Hide extensions for known file types'

then click 'Apply' and 'OK'

You should now be able to rename files without putting .MP3 everytime
