Yes I recommend Windows 7, using it since the Beta and within a fortnight of initial installation (I was Dual-Booting with Vista as my primary OS and then Windows 7 Beta to see how it handled and how stable it was), and in all fairness the Windows 7 Beta was more stable than Windows Vista (Pre-Service Pack).

If you have money to spare and need a new OS then Windows 7 is reccomended fully.
If you have Windows Vista and are looking at Windows 7 but don't want to really spend the money then don't, just look for guides on streamlining Windows Vista and just Disable UAC for the love of all that is right in the world xD.

As for programs working on Windows 7, if it was made to work with Vista it will work with Windows 7 :) Simples! :D

Yes, get windows 7.

I was on XP, absolutely loved it. Went to vista, didn't like it so i went back to XP. Then while i was in college, our school was a part of Microsoft's Tech Academy so we got a retail copy of Windows 7 professional around june/july/august (long time ago), so i figured fuck it.

I installed 7 and haven't even thought about using XP since.

Windows 7 is a better optimized and less buggy Vista so I'd highly recommend it. It's not enough for me to go upgrade but if I was getting a new computer I'd definitely go for it. :y:
