Custom belt-drive turntables are available at two basic levels. The first level includes a high-quality parts kit, heavy glass platter, Premotec AC motor, a Rega arm, and with or without a Rega cartridge. Prices for these tables are between $800 and $1500 depending on design, wood type, etc.
The second tier of custom tables feature Teres designed bearings, unique hand-machined platters, Origin Live DC motor kits with speed control, and a variety of tonearm options including Rega, Origin Live, and more. Prices for these tables are generally between $1750 and $3000. The first complete table with this quality parts kit will be complete in early April 2009.
A note on pricing: we’ve received large numbers of inquiries about budget turntables, but unfortunately the lowest wholesale price for a high-quality turntable parts kit is around $400 right now. Throw in some custom carpentry and this is why the minimum price for turntables is around $800. If you are local, we can sell you the Rega P1 for under $400.
