not filthy when the tourists dont come.

But the sea is balck coz of some natural chemical on the bottom of the sea, blackpool could be simmilar.

Plus, seas with stone on the shore instead of sand always look duller.

Very true man, it's not dirt, i'm just takin tha piss. It would be for the reasons you stated, and also if it had a pretty deep shoreline. Blackpool has a very famous pier, which thinking about it, must've been designed for a very deep shoreline.
