Palmetto

Postby Ivy » Apr 27th, '06, 01:07

A year ago, I was in a state of chronic depression, so I went to a place called Palmetto for help, here's the story...

Fifthteen girls remain secluded from society
Longing to return home taking nothing lightly
Staying in eight rooms lined side by side
Several rules at which we all have to abide
Following the same routine daily every week
Groups customized of confidentiality but information always leaks
Sitting in sand filled sixty pound color cordinated chairs
Different treatment plans no one is treated quite fair.
Days existing of take downs and lashing out
Act out and get special notice without a doubt
All doors always remain shut and locked
Wasting away slowly beginning to rought
Write - ups are given for every situation
Automatic special notice for crossing the green line of the nurse's station
Three staff members remaining on the unit at all times
Whenever transititioning everyone remains in one straight line
Breakdowns common, someon's always in seclusion
People coming and going, this has to be an illusion
Get points and work your way up the level system
Self mutilators wear gowns and remain on Line of Sight
Tired of being locked away, girls always getting in fights
School only consisting of two short ass pathetic hours
It's nobody's fault were in here, but ours
Everyone's given medications at some point in the day
Therapist's giving advice, but no one listens to what they have to say
All children have two theraputic sessions in a lousy week
Struggling to reach a turning point and lacking wisdom they seek
Eating the same disgusting foods every morning
Everyone having behavioral problems from emotions pouring
Only getting to go outside every Tuesday and Thursday for exercise
You don't recieve what you want unless you have connectional ties
Getting up every morning between five and six for our hygene
Everyone's desiring to live a life of a typical teen
Going to bed every night at eight on the dot
Earning passes to leave that hell hole, they don't happen a lot
Act out or get a write - up and see how fast they'll stop
Going by daily listening to all the units with a Dr. Strong
Getting lectured for some one else doing wrong
For now this is my temporary place I call home
Palmetto Low Country Behavioral Health, housing hundreds and then some.

Yeah, the place was a hell whole. Everynight you could hear the cop sirens and music and guns. It scared me, it wasn't what I was used to at all. I guess that's what reality is supposed to do, you know?
