What Does Hip-Hop Mean To Us? (Collab)

Postby shadyblogger » Jan 19th, '14, 17:34

Just a little collab me and Just Silver did about what hip-hop means to us.

LOF: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=168949

Verse 1 (Just Silver):

So what's exactly this rap shit it's hard to describe
The reason of tryin to find the next written line
Making sure it rhymed, flow was well wordplay and something else
All at the same time I'm talking to myself
In this lyrical counselors office on Microsoft office
Using my only offense to attack my chosen targets
Shocked myself when my outlet was spitting
At first I doubted it how could somseone like me go about this
Whiter than the tips of the mountains but I flowed like a fountain
My shit situation spits how I get around it
Depression lessens with these writing lessons
I want my writing to become a profession with no stressin
Venues what have you fancy menus and no fast food
Make it all factual this is what it means to be rappin to em
Raps basically my other life till I die and slip on a butterknife
Hip hop socialite trying to get the motions right
Devoted to flowin cause he feels like when a soldier fights
For honor and the art of it I'm on it never off again
Astonished men with Parkinson's doin a little shuffle dance
Im all game let's huddle again I rap because im non republican
I mean fuck that the whole government
I write notes with no plotholes
From the streets full of potholes with 8 sections
Probably created my direction as an adolescent
I should've added math lessons but my rap was cooler
Im back and im aggressive as a wild puma
Im on it for curiosity spit shit was apart of me
Since age of 13 probably found out the artistry
Other world shit fuck mayhem and stubborn stress
Id rather be the only joker out the fucking deck
Unique scenery to a T when I unflow I evolve in piece
And in my piece you can agree and see my paint and blood
Or at least see yours if mine never stained enough
That means im attacking the opposition
If you can't see my pictures knock a blindside witness
Truth in disguise of a lie and a victim

Verse 2 (shadyblogger):

What does hip-hop mean to me
It means so much that it seems to be
The only thing that is keeping me
From shooting up the McDonalds down on 7th street (pronounced seeventh)
You see it's my glue it's what holds me together
So I can withstand any weather
And float like a feather yet sting like Mayweather
When I punch, I swing harder than the leather on a tether ball
Speaking of ball games I remember one time I was wearing a pleather shawl
At a UCLA basketball game, it was cold, it was a memory that was unforgettable (pronounced unforgetta-ball)
I heard a song with a cool guitar riff, had my ears peeled trying to get it all
The song's intensity was so bananas like the effects of Tramadol
So zany like a fruit driving a goddamn rent a car
It left me empowered for an hour and I no longer felt like a vegetable (pronounced vej-tuh-ball)
I could do whatever I wanted, yeah beat up a bully, bitch you better haul
My mind was at peace and my thoughts felt together all
Up in my head but I wanted to know the name of that song
So later that night after the game I looked it up on my computer all night long
Couldn't find it, tried to remember the words to the song but I had it all wrong
Must've been the bong because my mind was gone worse than motherfucking Cheech and Chong
Talked to a friend the next day about it
Turned out the song was Lose Yourself by Eminem and I shouted
"That song is fucking awesome. Turn it up louder."
And from that day on I became hooked on to Eminem's songs like King Kong is to Ann Darrow
And thanks to Eminem I became opened up to a whole new genre of music
Before then, I didn't know what rap was let alone how to use it
And rap became my emotional outlet so when I got hurt I would take my pain and just fuse it
Into the wall of rap and it always had my back even when I took a bat to it
When I would hate my mood and get so mad at it
Rap helped me feel normal and not like a Mad Hatter
And helped me get rid of my bad atti-
tude, I try not to be rude or prude but sometimes I get real lewd
And say fuck a minor in her bush until I find some gold, man I got a big cock
I don't know what the fuck I'm saying I'm not a big shot
I guess I'm just saying thank you Eminem for your music that helps me when I'm pissed off
I don't think you understand how much you mean to me hip-hop

No I liked yours. I just have trouble usually judging the quality of my own work. It's pretty easy for me to criticize or comment on another's work but when it comes to my own it's hard for me to evaluate. That's one of the reasons I appreciate feedback so much. It helps me to improve.
