Some sobering news for Mel Gibson: he's been axed from The Hangover 2.
Though the troubled actor, 54, was supposed to begin filming his cameo role as a tattoo artist in the next two weeks, director Todd Phillips announced that Gibson would no longer appear in the sequel.
"I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of [WB president] Jeff Robinov and his team," Phillips told The Wrap on Thursday. "But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew."
One of the movie's stars who may have had beef with the actor? Zach Galifianakis, who reportedly complained about Gibson's casting during a Comedy Death-Ray podcast in early October.
After explaining that he turned down several projects for moral reasons, Galifianakis admitted to being "in a deep protest right now with a movie I'm working on, up in arms about something. But I can't get the guys to [listen]. I'm not making any leeway...It's very frustrating."
