some people actually have few options. it's like.. "hmm... i can sell drugs, work a minimum wage job, or go into the army and get them to pay for college."

then.. the recruiters have been caught lieing to people on video... they're like "the war in iraq is over. you won't be going there." lmao.

i saw this guy on MTV on a show called "True Life: I'm Dead Broke," and he lived with his family. There was like 8 of them living in a 2 bedroom house without running water or electricity. His only "hope" was the army.

americans are lucky to even have privileges in army. When war in Chechnya started nobody asked nobody whos going... its either that or prison.


War for america has become sort of an employement buisness. i think its purely disgracefull. And no matter how poor people see themselves, i think each person should realize what their doing, especially when ur given something as valuable as a CHOICE, to go or not to go to war.

A Marine lance corporal was sentenced Thursday to 21 months in prison for his role in the abduction and slaying of an Iraqi civilian last spring.

this isn't the same guy who was sentanced to 90 years.

sure, it's not as harsh as jail or army.. but starving to death or army aren't great options either... neither is life in the ghetto/jail/selling drugs or army great options either... this is why they target young black men.

Ur talking to a person whos country has one of the highest crime rates in the world, not to mention one with the highest difference between poor and rich people, with 20% living BELOW the bread level and another 60 with just enough to live OK (white trash level.). there are ways to earn money without going to war, even with racial discrimination, people do survive. Its too easy of an option, and americas army is just getting easier (for more recruites), people who go to this corrupt army go either coz they are to stupid (in wich case every iraqi or etc.. that dies is still a crime and being stupid doesnt relieve u of crime) or ur just heartless, earning money in such way.

war sucks, on both ends.
as far as soldiers go.. in America, i'd say 99.99% don't fight in the army because they "hate" another country or something... they don't join because they want to take someone's life...
