AOL Music (http://www.aolmusic.com) , a leading online music destination, will debut a brand new and exclusive Sessions performance from multi-platinum rapper Nas, featuring tracks from his critically acclaimed, Hip Hop Is Dead. With this new release, Nas returns to his role as mentor and teacher, his legendary mic skills as sharp as ever, and takes today's young rappers back to school.

In a rare performance, Nas, jamming with a live band, kicks off the AOL Music Sessions performance with "Bridging the Gap," featuring his father, the legendary jazz musician, Olu Dara, who accompanies on the pocket trumpet. He also performs "You Can't Kill Me," "Can't Forget About You," featuring Chrisette Michele, "Hip Hop is Dead," and finishes with a medley of hit songs including "It Ain't Hard To Tell," and "The World Is Yours."

Following the performance, Nas explains exclusively to AOL Music the meaning behind the title track, "Hip Hop is Dead," and why he chose to take such a controversial stand against the music industry.

Hip Hop Is Dead, Nas's debut on Def Jam Records, showcases the producing and vocal talents of several hip-hop artists including Jay-Z, Kanye West, Will.i.am, Snoop Dogg, and Tre Williams, among others.
