Devin The Dude Returns With Fourth Album
Tuesday - February 6, 2007
Texas rapper, Devin The Dude, is back in full effect. Known for his homegrown blend of the lighter side of reality, the rapper returns with his fourth studio release, Waiting To Inhale, courtesy of Rap-A-Lot Records.
Since his debut in the early '90s, The Dude has become well known for his humorous social commentary, which has earned him the nickname, the "Richard Pryor of Hip-hop." Though a little less raunchy then his previous offering, To the Extreme, he still comes raw and uncut as ever, as he laces the classically styled grooves provided by his original Coughee Brothers crew.
Although he definitely tries to make you laugh, he also will make you think with his uncanny ability to make listeners think between the comedic lines.
The first single from the new album is "Little Girl Gone," featuring Bun B and Lil Wayne, which the rapper's camp says is a glimpse into the more emotional side of the Dude, as he delves into the inner-city's inner child gone awry.
Although the perils of the streets aren't always a laughing matter, humor always gives hope as far as the lyrical crooner is concerned.
Waiting to Exhale deals with an array of relationship issues dealt with from the male perspective, according to the rapper.
"I think women tend to filter things out a little more often then men do," explains Devin. "Men tend to hold things in till the very end until they're about to blow. I think it helps to take a deep breath and relax your mind a little. It helps you deal with things a lot better and it's better than going on a drinking binge."
From the homicidal ballad, "Just Because," to the hilarious skits, Devin plans to make his fans see the cultural dramedy of everyday living.
Waiting to Exhale is slated for release on March 13.
He is currently on a national promotional tour. For more info and tour dates, visit Myspace.com/DevinTheDude.
