The Game will be taking his game to the courts for the American Basketball Association this fall.
A team rep for the Inglewood Cobras confirmed on Thursday (November 17) that the rapper, born Jayceon Taylor, will suit up for them. He will also become part owner of the California-based franchise. The Cobras publicist Gabrielle Llewellyn says the former G-Unit rapper will be very involved with the team, but declined to offer specifics.
The 6-foot-4 Game played high school ball with Golden State Warriors hoop star Baron Davis and received a basketball scholarship to Washington State University. According to reports, the 25-year-old will play either shooting guard or small forward for the team.
Game is expected to make his home debut for the Inglewood squad on Nov. 29 at the Los Angeles Forum Arena.
The Game isn't the first rapper to sign on with the old-school-flavored basketball conference; Master P hooped it up for the ABA's Las Vegas Rattlers as recently as last year.
The Game won't be leaving his rap game on the bench entirely, rumors of a December DVD release Stop Snitchin Stop Lyin were at the end of a recent freestyle "120 Bars." The leaked freestyle was laden with some choice words for 50 Cent and the rest of the G-Unit squad, including a reference to 50 Cent's recent appearance on the cover of GQ.
