2/6/09 DX News Bits: Shady/Aftermath Edition

Postby fearless31666 » Feb 6th, '09, 21:39

Despite Internet leaks, Eminem’s newest single, “Crack A Bottle” featuring Dr. Dre and 50 Cent [click to listen], has managed to take the number one spot on the iTunes charts. After expressing that he was “really heated” about the leak of his unfinished song [click to read], Em may be happy to see that bootlegging hasn’t prevented fans from buying his record on iTunes.
Initially titled “Number One,” the single was leaked back in December as an unfinished version, much to Eminem’s aggravation. According to digitalmusicnews.com, attempts by Shady/Aftermath and Interscope Records to pull the song from file sharing websites such as Zshare and Megaupload were ultimately unsuccessful. Eminem’s album, Relapse is expected to be released sometime this spring.
In the meantime, BGOV/Shady/Aftermath artist Bobby Creekwater is preparing his second EP release within the last six months, BC Era Deuce. Creek is teaming with various web sites and blogs, along with his own http://www.iBobbyCreek.com site for the release. The EP will also see a limited two-disc physical release of 3,240 copies in 20 cities across the U.S. and Canada; 81 copies of the physical set, which includes Creek's BC Era EP, will be made available in two lifestyle locations.
"There's a new wave of artists who, like myself, feel that quality music is what has been missing from the game," Creek explains. "And in making myself more accessible to the fans, I've found a growing audience. I felt it was time to show them how much they are appreciated. To let them see that their support is not in vain."
Bobby Creekwater's latest effort, a remix to the aforementioned "Crack a Bottle" finds him with his Shady/Aftermath brethren Cashis and Eminem; it is available in the HipHopDX Audio section [click to listen]. The BC Era Deuce EP will be followed by Creek's debut album A Brilliant Mistake. Creek also reinterprets Kanye West's 2007 single with his own "Big Brother" tribute to Eminem [click to listen].
