WITI-TV, RACINE COUNTY, WI—
A 6-year-old child suffered significant injuries after being struck by a school bus that as driven by the boy's mother. It all happened Friday morning in the parking lot at Union Grove Baptist Church.

Officials say the boy, whose name is Tori, was going to be a passenger on the bus and crawled in front of the vehicle. The boy's sister apparently noticed what was happening and told the Tori to duck. Moments later, the bus lerched forward.

"He was crouched down. It was unknown why he was crouched down, if he was tying his shoe perhaps," said Racine Co. Sheriff Christopher Schmaling.

Officials say the front tires missed Tori but he was hit by the back tires.

"As the school bus began to roll, the school bus driver reports she felt a bump and immediately stopped the bus to find out that this was her own child," said Schmaling.

The mother immediately jumped off the bus and called for help. Within moments, a Racine Co. sheriff's deputy and an ambulance were on the scene.

Tori was flown by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa. Officials now say he's in stable condition with a broken collar bone and some bruises.
