Former Roca-Fella CEO Damon Dash made his way to the Brooklyn Federal Courthouse early this morning in support of embattled Murder Inc founders, Irv and Chris Lorenzo. After hearing the testimony, Dash emerged from the courthouse saying he was confident that his friend Irv is "ridiculously innocent" of the charges.
"I can't believe the charges but it all comes out in the courtroom," remarked Dash to SOHH.com. "He seems ridiculously innocent of what he's charged of. What they're accusing him of... that's not characteristic of him."
Dash's Rocafella Records was picked up by Def Jam Records after Irv Gotti introduced he and Jay to Russell Simmons. Dash gives Irv Gotti, who also produced tracks on Jay-Z's debut Reasonable Doubt album, credit for giving him sound advice at the start of his career.
"I started my career... I got a lot of information from him as far as advice," Dash told SOHH.com. Irv was Jay's DJ. We was on the road for a long time together... we spoke about our plans as entrepreneurs in a very legal way."
The outspoken rap entrepreneur expressed his concern that Hip-Hop culture was "mis-portrayed" despite being "the strongest vehicle of promotion." But despite the external misconceptions, Dash asserts there should be unity in the hip-hop community.
"What I know is Irv he's a good guy... he's a friend we need to stand together. As a culture, we're supposed to stick together."
