11/8/08 Common Celebrates Obama Win, Leaks Track from Album

In honor of Barack Obama’s victory in the presidential election, Common has announced that he will leak a song from his forthcoming album, Universal Mind Control.

The aptly titled “Changes” features singer Muhsinah Abdul-Karim as well as a spoken word performance from Common’s daughter, Omoye.
According to the Chicago rapper, he had January 20, 2009 in mind when crafting the track. "I wrote this song to inspire the young world to believe that change can happen. To be honest, I also envisioned it as a great inaugural song for Barack Obama," Common said, via statement.
