A Croatian man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly set his wife on fire for her shopping habits.
Zdravko Crnecki, 37, was arrested last week after pouring gasoline on his 46-year-old wife in their Zagreb home and lighting it, the Croatian Times reports.

The severely-injured woman, who was not named, told police her husband had arrived home drunk and started to harass her and their daughter for spending too much money while shopping. He then tried to kill her by dousing her with gas and lighting her on fire.

The woman survived because her daughter and a neighbor immediately took her to a nearby hospital.

The Web site reported that Crnecki has a criminal record, but it was unclear of what he had been convicted.
