The fact is, it is exactly the same thing.
Saying (and sorry to use AspirinE as an example) Doom is the best or one of your favourites or saying Eminem is one of your favourites is exactly the same.

Problem is, many people don't like Eminem, because he's successful, he's not as "underground" as other rappers, he's more mainstream etc. So they class Eminem in a different area to other rappers for that reason. So when someone says they like Eminem, people assume that they only like "mainstream garbage" as many people have labelled Eminem's music and call them groupies.

I've never said doom is the best rapper, and stop using me as an example for that. I give him props, I give eminem props by moderating a forum that is related to him and i expose people to other rappers for the sake of hip hop and what eminem himself wants(at least i hope he does, considering hes a real artist). but as far as rating goes, i cant rate eminem over the many rappers that didnt get as much groupies simply for his poppy commercial success.

neither eminem groupies or any other groupies should label bests, its pathetic, and its pathetic that ur stating the same point that has nothing to do with extreme childish groupieness.

Dont mention me again trying to even compare me to the bunch of kids that dont know shit about wat they listen too, when ur making no point watsoever.
I spent thousands of dollars and 10 years of my life supporting artists, and i could never pick a best, greatest... watever.

And at ur point about people not liking em for being successfull... lmao... well look what kind of music his label is making as they get more popular. Its not about "underground" or "non-underground". Its about respect for music. Its about fans respecting rappers for respectiong music and staying true to it. Thats why i bought the new Guru (artist that does sacrifice commercianess for music) CD and u didnt.

TruEmFan wrote:^ fine, let's stop using asp as an example :p

let's say someone said "i love jurassic 5. they are my favorite."

most people, expecially the ones on the forum, would not say they are groupie.

but if someone said "i love eminem. he is my favorite." they'd have groupie all over! i was just reading yoshi's suggestion for the AND YOU ARE forum, and people are admitting that when newbies come in here and saying things along the lines of liking eminem, they get labeled as groupies.

(and they weren't labeling him as the best rapper, they were just saying that they like him the most.)

this is how it is in most categories, not just music. only certain people have groupies, and that because of their rank in society. eminem has groupies because he's mainstream and popular and commercially successfull, etc. other less known rappers don't have groupies because they're not mainstream and popular and commercially successful, etc.

all fans (the real ones, anyway, the ones with logic) respect the music. it's just fans of certain people get labeled as groupies because of whose music they respect.

Well i understand the labels, im all for yoshi's suggestion, infact i was discussing it in the mod section months back.

Im trying to say that not all people hating groupie attitudes are plain assholes, that just want to be "cool" .... fuck em. Not gonna say any names but some people are just beginning to broaden their prespectives and it gives them an ego boost, not yet deserved.

but im sorry, when people start talking plain nonsense like in one thread in the eminem section ..."omg eminem is the best fuck ur oppinion, i know, coz i have a trillion eminem cds and i refuse to listen to other artists" ... regardless of the fact that this is a shady/aaftermath forum, they gone catch some heat and frankly i could care less, and if ur not a groupie u wont care less either..

and this thread is obviously about groupies and obsesssors and u people are here protecting them? protecting the pop-culture phenomemon of teens that have no taste or oppinion, in other words amateurs and people who need something to worship more they need pleasure from music we love.

stop generalizing. On a real hip hop message board ud be even more blasted and oppinion would be abstracted even more.

personally i think about the fact that they went out of their way to mention that he's their favorite. nobody was asking them, but the first thing they thought of to say was to point out that they love eminem.

When people try and get in contact with Marshall.

Even worse, when they try if not find out his house address, then actully go there to see him.
