Of course not. Not in 50 years. I'd say give or take a couple centuries and probably. First, I'm assuming by A.I. you mean human intelligence though (what if you make a robot dog

.) , and even then It all depends how you define A.I.
Any machine that is able to learn, process, and apply the knowledge it gains technically has A.I. (at least in my opinion). Also, the decisions it makes aren't hardwired into it, but rather decided based on what it learns. Now the question is...how intelligent do you want the robot

. Assuming the intelligence of a human, then yes...that would take a very very long time if we even manage it. And of course there are limitations too (for example: the amount of data the robot can store). But aren't there are limitations on intelligences of animals in general? Like, you can't teach a chimpanzee to talk, at least not that I know of...but those animals are still brilliant in their own rights.
On another note, even though I think creating artificial intelligence in a robot is possible, I'm not certain we as people are going to for numerous reasons. First of all... and most importantly, there's really no need to. Why would you want a thinking/learning robot? That's just asking for a sci-fi robot takeover

. I mean hopefully we're not gonna get so lazy that we need to build machines to
think for us. Also, if it is artificial intelligence, the robots would have to learn and make mistakes so it's much more efficient to program for a robot to do whatever it has to do correctly the first time.
Lastly, back to my limitations on intelligence from the previous paragraph. maybe we as humans will never be smart enough to create A.I. that can match our intelligence, but that doesn't mean somebody/something (Alien? Future evolutionary version of us?) out there won't.
