Religion: Good or Bad (or Bawse)

I'm not making this a poll. That would be a cop out.

I've seen people make blunt statements about all the war and bloodshed religion has caused. I have also seen blind followers of their faith who can't see a downside. I want to know your personal opinion. I won't bias the title thread with my opinion.

You should add a poll with 3 options: bad, good, or bawse :flutter:

Good if it's used for the right reasons.
Bad when it's manipulated to give followers a reason to kill.

Religion is archaic and useless. Any benefits of having organized religions in this world are long in the past.

Religion is inevitable... Everyone follows some sort of religion and worships something, whether it be their own personal desires, money, Eminem, etc.

The only way to be successful in the Hereafter is to worship God alone and that is what Islam teaches.

Peace.

Let me provide a paradox:

To be successful, you must follow a religion.

Benjamin Franklin was a noted athiest, and very successful.

You need to study the definition of paradox.

And Saajid, you sound like you follow your religion "just because". I've never had a problem with people following religion - I just have issues with the institutions themselves - but that is a really weak reason to worship god

I struggled for the correct term. Shall we just call it a counter example?

Yeah, I like counterexample.

Basically, my point is that the merits of religion (aside from 'salvation' or whatever) can be drawn from other places.

I embraced Islam about 2 years ago because I believe the Qur'an is a miracle from Allah (Arabic term for "God") and that it could be produced from none other than Allah.
