is nostalgia dangerous for proceeding in life

Postby Just Silver » Apr 22nd, '14, 15:23

I've noticed that I'm quite nostalgic

It is like my safety blanket but also my demise
If I can't get out of my past I may not be able to move on

What's your guys opinions is nostalgia a factor to weak minded people
Or are they just memories that should only be brought up when appropriate

Me too, I think nostalgia is both good and bad. You remember happy memories that helped shape who you are, but you also realize things will never be how they were. :'(

Dwelling in the past is a waste of time, but most things are.

Everyone has things that they do that distract them from their goals or priorities...I wouldn't be worried if dwelling in the past is yours. It's better/healthier than what many other people do to piss their time away, like drinking and drugs.

I think most people have fond memories of their childhood and it's not just down to nostalgia. I think the world used to be a better place. There are too many people here now and too few resources to go around, so there are more angry people who feel they haven't got their fair share.

I agree with you about dwelling in the past. learning from experiences is important but dwelling on it only serves to stress you out.

But with the rest of what you said, the world is definitly not a worse place, people gravitate towards their childhood because that is their comfort zone, that was the time in their life where they didnt have to be worried or stressed about anything. The world is actually a better place, and it will continue to improve, as education improves, as tolerance improves, crime is down etc. The only reason these things appear more apparent is because of the way we give and receive information now, we're so much more connected, also news sources use events that are considered upsetting or bad, because thats what attracts people to watch. The world isnt worse, its just easier to see the negative than it is on the positive.
" Life can change your directions, even when you ain't planned it
All you can do it handle it, worst thing you can do is panic
Use it to your advantage, avoid insanity manage
To conquer, every obstacle, make impossible possible
Even when winning illogical, losing is still far from optional.." -T.I.
