Internet & YouTube allows YOU to select which content you think is interesting. If you want to listen to stupid shit, do so, and if that makes the guy who puts out stupid shit famous, good for him. He must've done something that other people enjoyed.

YouTube (or Internet in general) is indeed a place where everyone can bring what they have to the table -- and it has increased the degree of equality of opportunity substantially...

Yeah, I am. Yeah YouTube allows me to select things, but I hate seeing these dumb 'famous' faces all over the Internet, press, TV, radio, adverts, EVERYWHERE. It pisses me off that REAL ARTISTS don't get that (or any) attention, because media (including Internet of course) prefers to promote density, (sex) scandals, idiots. :facepalm

Don't get me wrong though, Internet is a GREAT THING if you know how to use it right.

PS. Hendrix in your sig :worship:

I get what you are saying. It's just, I don't think a small group of people (like you and me) can rightfully judge what people in general should like/not like. What becomes popular on YouTube reflects what people at large consider to be interesting content. What one person considers being a talent, another person thinks of as trash; people are different, and so are their opinions. If you consider an artist to be super talented, you have every right to try and support & help him/her to get famous. You think Macklemore would have become famous in the pre-internet age?

Also, is there any alternative to YouTube/Internet that promotes "real talent" better? Having government/large corporations selecting the content for us is much worse, imo. I say, let people select their own content, to w/e degree of shallowness/stupidity it is, as so long as I am able to select w/e content that I consider to interesting.

By the way, media promotes sex, idiots and scandals because people at large enjoy hearing about that stuff. Most people aren't wired to only like "deep", "smart" & "interesting" content.

Hendrix fan ey? :b: :b:

Well, all you write is 100% true. I think we even have the same opinion about the Internet thing tbh. Yeah, we can't judge what people should watch and listen, but I just wanted to share my opinion about these "internet celebrities" :D :sweating: Internet is such a great invention, it's all about people tbh.

sex sells best, what can I say...
