My mates from Uni were debating about this today and I didn't really know where I stood
wondered what you guys and gals thought?

For cosmetics? Yes, of course.

For medications and other treatments? No, of course not.

How do you feel about experimenting on animals to learn more about human behaviour?
Psychologists love doing this and on animals like rats I can condone it.

Have you heard of Harry Harlow though?

He shed a lot of light on the bond between a parent and their child. He found that the bond is created through contact ("contact comfort" I think he called it), not just through breast feeding like they believed until this point. He was partly responsible for giving fathers equal custody rights over children, because his studies showed that fathers could bond with their children just as much via contact, despite not being able to breast feed.

The experiments he performed on his animals (I forget if they were apes or monkeys) were nothing short of torture, though.

If you enter here to Pamela Anderson's twitter pics, (she is very involded with animals right) there are some pics that are hard to see, about animal testing .

https://twitter.com/PamelaDAnderson/media

Don't want to post the pics because they can hurt some sensibilies. See this kind of things affect me because I love animals.

But I admit, probably most of the cosmetics I use, shampoos whatever were tested in animals, I have 2 leather jackets, leather shoes and boots........like most of us.

But I really wish they stopped testing in animals unless is completely necesary. There are already brands like The body shop that doesn't test in animals at all.

It depends. I think it's completely different if we talk about medicines that will save lots of human lifes than skinning an animal alive to make this :

Cosmetics don't need to be tested in animals, they have other ways right now. The way they test a shampoo to see if it will sting in the eyes is intruducing the shampoo over and over again in the eyes of a rabbit.

I actually unfollowed Game in Instagram because he posted Polar Bear fur foot mats in his Porsche.

Like I said I have 2 leather jackets and shoes and boots, but to me fur coats is a whole different story. Everytime I see things like this :

http://amber-rose.org/gallery/albums/us ... eek-04.jpg

:shakehead: The cruelty way those animals are killed is a whole different story, to make the leather jacket or the shoes they use the same animals that we eat , but to make the fur coats, they have to skin them alive for the hair to be more shiny....

And it's an unnecesary cruelty because there are fake fur coats that look exactly the same. And I admit leather jackets too, I love the jackets but I feel kinda bad for having them.

I adhere to this philosophy, expect when it comes to fire. I wouldn't wish death by fire on my worse enemy. The chilling prst is the fact that it's happening in the world right now for simple grievances like stealing potatoes.

Now this is off-topic, but I'm so against death penalty.

I can't believe it still exist in 2014.

I imagine one reason it still exists is because it costs a lot of tax money to keep someone in prison.
