Do You Think The Schools Today Are Too Lenient?

some people say that schools today are too lenient, like teachers can't do as much as they can in the old days ex. teachers can hit the children and now kids get less homework and such....not sure how it is in other countries but it's like that in the US (and in some asian countries)


i think school's are lenient now but not that much only a little....maybe it's cause i go to a somewhat strict school and i'm mostly in smart classes and they give you more work and demand more from you and crap or i'm just used to the way things are nowadays since i've never experienced the way school was a long time ago *hopes all that made sense*

but are you only talking about your school or schools in australia? cause i'm talking about school's in general and not just the school you go to

our school was really lenient last year, you could wear short skirts and hardly got in trouble for anything, but our new principal doesn't take any crap

but i do get a lot of work mostl cause i'm in honors classes but the other classes barely get any homwork or projects

but yeah i do think that schools are too lenient and rely on the parents to do stuff about their kids, but most parents don't do anything

Strictness is wat makes people who they are, school is SUPPOSED to be hard, it aint no tourist attraction.

In russia school is use to have a big meaning especially in the soviet days, those that russian on this board know what im talking bout, and it is now starting to degrade slowly the more capitalistic we become.

The smartest people come out the toughest school - fact.

Fucking liberals and their "compassion" is whats really killing education.




Uniforms and daily grade reports is what schools need.

yeah, i think they are too lenient. there were situations here, when students put a recycle bin on their english teacher's head and he couldn't defend himself, cause that'd be considered as violence against students.

^ that's sick, cause students can do practically everything. my school is kinda lenient, but people who go there are normal boys n girls. but there are places, where you're actually scared to go, cause you never know what's gonna happen.

and now they say "we have to do something" - what can they do, if teachers have no authority they can shout, write/call your parents or send you to the principal. and that's all.. i don't think 17-18 yrs old thugs care about it..

if they want school to "bring up" kids, they need to strenghten the discipline.

but i guess it depends on the teachers' behavious n the students..it can work maybe..

but it can give bad effects too..

They should be more strict. Half people in my old school carried firearms on em and nobody stopped them.

I think that school is lenient but not neccessarily in a bad way. It's kind of bad and it's kind of good. Good because children should not be physically hurt in order for the message to get through. Bad because teacher's cannot even raise their voice and be strict, so students can do whatever they feel like. That's what can be said from my experience in public school. Plus, it also depends on what part of the world you;re going to school in. North America's school's are much more free, loose and lenient than british schools etc.

i think P.E. classes have too much slack. 90% of the kidz dont' do the exercises. my school doesnt even follow its own rules. at my school if you miss 10 dayz in a row, you get kicked out. i recently moved to WA with my dad this past summa, enrolled in a new school, and my old school is still callin my mom letting her know i wasn't there.
