Malcolm X and Martin Luther King

Postby yoshi » Dec 3rd, '05, 18:15

Well, both of them fought for black people's rights but in kinda different ways. I think Malcolm X was a bit fanatical with his "black Islam" and ideology. I mean it was something really different than King's - he wanted racial segregation, said white people were evil, but even then he had his believers.
I was wondering why they had so different beliefs, maybe because they grew up in different enviroments.. King was born and lived in quite good conditions, Malcolm came from rather poor family and atmosphere of fear and anger..
Now, when black ppl mosty don't suffer like they used to in 60's, I'm more with King, because he showed that you don't need to bring violence and terror to achieve your purpose..

Ppl tend to disrespect those who they are not afraid of, and that brings arogance.

But eventually he changes his mind a little bit after pilgrimage to Mecca in 1964 and said he wasn't racist anymore and all he wanted is peace and harmony between people.
And yeah, white people were afraid - eventually it showed that black aren't worse. But I'm still with King though.

If the black comunity didnt show any resistance and agressions
the racial tension would still be at high stakes.

Both of them really helped blacks and other races get their rights, i think both of em were great men

King is like Mahatma Gandhi, he wanted to give blacks their rights but not with violence

Even tho Malcom X wanted racial segregation he still helped blacks their rights

Yeah, but at first he was more like "whites are evil" and it was not real fight for black's rights in my opinion.. He encouraged blacks to hate white America and to revolt against them, so whites hated blacks.
The smartes thing he ever said was:
"I am against any form of racism. We are all against
racism. I believe in Allah. I believe in the brotherhood of
man, all men, but I do not believe in the brotherhood with
anybody who does not want brotherhood with me"

Well its kind of a different situation.
Here they had a point to prove and doubt it could have worked in a peacefull way, coz there was too much hatred from the whiteside.

^ When respect is brought by fear it won't be true respect I think. It'll always be connected with hate and agression, so better way to get face is to gain it through smart and rather peaceful way..

Actually the only nigga who made whites fear blacks and latins was Stanley "Tookie" Williams. But that lasted for a few years only.
