I agree, even tho i'm not American (However I go over twice every year). Guns are good for protection coz there is never gonna be an America without guns. I think, however, if you do have to fire one it should be aimed at a persons leg so that they are hurt not killed. Yeah, I know, easier said than done :happy:

I think its good that american cops have guns, I wish ours did, we get more police killed than criminals.

Sorry, I just couldn't help it - I guess you mean "bear arms" as in carry and not "bare" as in naked - please don't be mad :flowers:

And no, I don't think Americans or anyone else except the police and the army and a few other rare cases should have a legal right to carry firearms. The more guns are around, the more likely it is that someone will get shot.

There has been way too many cases with ppl shooting or threatening other ppl for no reason, and awful cases with teens running amok or small children shooting each other over lost video games. The number of cases like that wouldn't be so high if access to guns wasn't so easy.

As for the right to protect yourself - if there weren't so many guns around, you wouldn't need to protect yourself with a firearm in return.
And you don't need a gun to protect you against ppl who want to stab you - take martial arts classes of some sort instead and learn how to defend yourself.

And about the cliche that "guns dont kill ppl ... ppl kill ppl" that's just not true - ppl with guns kill ppl!

Good question.. After thinking for a while I eventually concluded that it's not good idea to let everyone to carry guns around.. There have been too many accidents. And you know, you shoot someone in self defence and you'll be stuck with it to the rest of your life, no matter if you'll end in jail or as a free man. Besides, this weapon (claimed to be used in self defence) mostly is used to commit crimes, so what's the point?..

But I'm sure that if you want to have a gun in the US (or anywhere else) permission isn't a big problem..

I have to disagree with you on that. The right to bear arms in the Constitution means legally bear arms. Those kids are illegally getting the guns somehow. Even if it was against the law to bear arms, I'm sure they would still get their hands on it. For instance, look at drugs. Just because drugs like marjiuana are illegal, it doesn't mean people can't get their hands on them.

I think bearing arms is kind of pointless (normal people just aren't anxious to go shooting people, even if they are faced with robbers). However, if a person is old enough, and is mature enough to get a license for a gun, I don' t see why they cannot own one.
