Abuse Of Power.

As my first debate I have ever posted; I chose one in particular interest of me. I chose this because in school, outside of school, at home, in religion, science, and many others, this seems to be a prominent force in the way things are. Some examples are as follows...

1.)School:
I go in school and I'm sitting in my chair; now a lot of you know I have schizophrenia so I am a bit paranoid at some times. I was talking to myself(rapping) to help calm me down so I wouldn't feel so irritated at things I was feeling, and the teacher puts his finger to his mouth and does ''Shh'' to me. I told him ''that was a bit disrespectful don't you think? You could have just told me with words instead of using a connotation of superiority. I mean you ARE an English teacher after all..'' He was like ''I WAS NOT DISRESPECTFUl'' I said ''That is my opinion.'' I got in detention because of it. Since when do teachers think they are untouchable or, god forbid, wrong? Abusive in the sense of making me and many other kids feel inferior. Equality should be something in schools.

2.)Law:
I see videos of cops beating the fuck out of other people for no reason other then they were bored. I mean a department of justice should at least abide by the rules they set themselves. Yet, as the teachers, they think they are superior because of the higher place they are situated in. So they abuse it because they think they have the right too. It's obvious that this is a wrong assumption on their part but they never want to admit it.

3.)In science;
people say things such as theories are facts and try to forcefully make it so everyone recognizes it as facts. Abusive because kids are manipulated into believing that these theories are facts and they can't make up their own conclusions for themselves unless they educate themselves. It shouldn't be like that. Teachers should tell the students right off the bat that it is a theory, and it hasn't been proven yet so then the kids are not blindly leaded into something they may be entirely false.

4.)Religion.
Religious fanatics try just as science to force their beliefs to people who are uneducated about what their stance is. Even more depressing is once they have you they drain you for your money by asking you to donate, I.E. the catholic church. Yet they are so rich they can wipe their ass with a bill gates monthly check. Abusive because they let their influence/power reel you in, in a sense brainwashing you.

I want to know what you guys think; remember these are my opinions, I am not stating anything here as facts. If I did there would be no debate.

This is the point I most agree with. Ever since the beginning of religion, people have been trying to make others believe in what they believe, because they think it's the right and only way. This is something I really hate about religion and probably one of the reasons I don't go to church anymore and see the religion as something that divides people instead of connecting them, even though we see mass religious events and it might seem as something really cool, thousands of people singing and feeling happy together because they have this one thing in common.
From my point of view, christianity with the 'love your brother and sister' thing and killing 'infidels' at the same time, is one big pile of.. well hipocrysy. Thousands of people died during the crusades, because christians have been trying to 'convert' them. How can you kill another man in the name of Jesus, whose most important teaching was love for another human being?
People turned religion, an originally beautiful thing, into something terrible and crooked. The church with its wealth, big domes and priests with fat bellys and illegitimate children, priests molesting kids - what the fuck is wrong with this world? Jesus had one cloth and one pair of sandals and was born in a stable and the whole thing was about loving each other and going to the heaven after death. Right now, it's about people donating money for new domes.

Another way of abusing its power, is that the church interferes with the science and actually dares to tell what is wrong and forbids certain actions. I see no reason for it and I certainly don't remember ANYONE giving the pope or any other priest the right to ban stem cell research or any other experiment. Some may be wrong, that's natural, but it's not up to the church to decide. There's the ethical council that takes care of it, church should stick to helping poor and sick people and giving hope for those, who need it - basically, should stick to the 10 commandments, which means the original role.

The first 2 I agree on cause: Fuck the schooling system, and fuck the law. Religion however is needed, you need to believe in god for hope, I'm not saying you have to go to church or mosque and pray, but you do need to believe that there is a god. Because when times get hard, and life is treating you like a piece of shit, you need to believe in something for hope. Say if you had a daughter, and she was very ill, and no medicine or doctor can cure her, what will you do than? You'll pray to god and hope she gets better. Religion is something were ALL apart of and born with, it makes you what you are. If your born christian, or muslim, your going to be educated about your culture and about your family's beliefs as a kid and grow into reality and make your own choices from there.

Whether you choose to follow your religion (doesn't matter if your not religious, just believe there's a god) those that don't are heavily brainwashed by science, with there theories of "Theres no god" bullshit. Believe me, Religion DOES brainwash people HEAVILY, I have a few cousins who are heavily brainwashed by religion. They used to cheat on there wives, drink up all night, go to clubs, come back all fucked up and possibly hit there wives to, cause there drunk or high or on pills. But now they've said fuck it, they've been praying and following the beliefs of Islam and now there family's are in much better shape. There kids see there dads more now, so religion DOES have its benefits and doubts.

PS: I mentioned christian and islam only because those are the most I'm familiar with, so no disrespect to any religion.

I understand what you mean by teachers but I don't really think that they abuse their power much. I know some teachers who do but overall they aren't really like that. The thing is, this might what it's like in my school. It'll obviously change in other schools.

Religion has always concerned me. I've always felt that religion was the cause for so much hatred in this world. For so many deaths in the past but now I just feel that being religious can bring in a lot of positive things to your life. I'm not religious but sometimes it feels like I should because if you don't believe in anything (like me) it feels dull. I think it's nice to believe in something that's why I wish there is a heaven though I don't believe in that. And that's where the science comes in. Both science and religion brainwash a lot of people. Science with their theories and religion with their ideologies.

Well i agree partially with your first three statements.

I also had problems with school teachers in the past, but looking back at it i think it isnt abusing their power but more like trying to have some authority. If your too friendly to everyone eventually no one will listen to what you have to say. So sometimes a teacher needs to be hard to his class just so they know whos the one they need to listen and pay attention to.

About the cops, i think it might be a little different becouse we live in different coutries, but mostly the police is doing a good job. There are always a few rotten apples between the good ones but thats never gonna change.

And about the science thing: Knowledge is power. Thats why you should always look at everything with a critical vieuw and never just assume anything of importance. But yes, you are right on this point.

The religion thing is a little different i think nowadays. In 2009, you have the choice to believe or not, to go to church, to donate money. So if you dont want to you have the choice to have nothing to do with them. Thats a big difference with school teachers and cops since you cant choose to ignore them.

First off about your schizophrenia, im new here and i never knew.. i just wanna say i somehow find it cool that your a schizophrinic and i also feel bad for you at the same time.. I have never seen or meet a real schizophrenic in my life and honestly i wanna meet/see one lol.. can you like tell me what exacly happens with you..

now for your whole power thing..

1. I believe teachers do have power over you if you are taking their class because honestly EVERY teacher has favorites and every teacher has marked someone unfairly.. pissing off a teacher = lower marks.. thats just you can just talk shit to them after the year is over lol.. and a teacher isnt allowed to physically touch you, they can lose their job or get suspended for that..

2. Cops.. I have never really been in a situation where a cop fucks with you but i have seen it before and its intense.. they literally will tackle you down if you move an arm or talk if they tell you to shutup.. Whats also cool is that cops can be racist or hate on someone anytime and no one will really do anything about it lol..

3. Ahhhh i agree 200% with you here, i hear a lot of shit like 'playing violent games will turn a child into a killer', the best shit i think for every kid is when a teacher tells you as a kid if you swallow your gun it takes 7 years to digest LOL.. i always thought about it growing up everytime i swallowed a piece of gum..

4. The worst is when they come to your door and try to persuade you into joining them, they just keep coming back and back, gets annoying as fuck lol

i agree with u especially about teachers. the law too. the people "working" with the justice system can't be exempt from it. if i beat up someone for no reason. life in jail. if a cop does, he gets fired. probation. that's it, its ridiculous. and teacher's DON"T have the authority to send u out of class without a valid reason. i mean students have basically no rights, but its still america and we are citizens.
and the number one reason, we are ALL human. so technically no one is superior to anyone.

the idea of religion is not physical or in context materialistic, i think its trivial to consider god conjuring a bottle of antibiotics for a sick kid, the idea is spiritual, any one who does indeed believe in any religion or any god does so thinking that there is a higher power, bigger than the law, the police, your parents and any other authority in THIS world, some one who can listen to you when no one else does, contact with ones spiritual side makes him more aware of the things he been blessed with, if you were in a bed sick as hell, you'd appreciate life more, hence its easy to say that god is doin a shitty job when all he tryin to do is make you aware of the things you have, of course all that seems believable only if you actually belive in something,
