Global Warming

Postby Fa-Q » Jul 27th, '09, 01:50

I'm reading up on Global Warming, well I did I had to do a report for it. Anyway some scientists are trying to speak up and say that it has little to no validity to it. And they should have been preaching that the world was warming up about 10-15 years ago not when because we are actually in a cooling process now. Well it seems EVERYONE has bought into this including celebrities that are "green" which means they are sucking on the teat of the lie. Obama has also set in act, it has yet to pass in the Senate, the "Cap and Trade Bill." This would force people to have a certain amount of energy to spend and if they went over would have to pay EXTRA what they would normally pay. So I was wondering what everyone on this forum believes about Global Warming and also if you want what does your country tell you about Global Warming.??

You cant tell me that my SUV or the extra 2 minutes in the shower will destroy the ozone layer. Or what about the hypocrites in Hollywood like Sheryl Crow that says we should you at a max 2 sheets of toilet paper to wipe my ass. Ill use the whole roll until you stop driving around in tour buses that cant be getting more than 15-20 miles to the gallon.

heres a link...this isnt what I base my beliefs on oh and by the way I am a registered Democrat.

Please provide me with any credible scientist who denies global warming. And by the way, by "credible scientist" I don't mean someone influenced by the corporate world. After all, once upon a time a group of scientists payed by opiate companies together banded and claimed that Cocaine was a wonder, heal all, drug. These 3000 scientists were, if I may say, wrong.

Anyone with any moderate intelligence as to what the greenhouse effect is, should understand what global climate change is. Anyone who combines that knowledge with the factual representation of greenhouse gasses emitted into the environment and their effects should at that point become concerned with what current energy policy is doing to our future, and our kids.

P.S. The Senate is part of Congress. We have a bicameral legislature. You should probably understand that. You were correct that the Waxman-Markey Bill is waiting for a Senate vote.

global warming is such bullshit, i live in Maine and its like the coldest summer we've had in a long time, plus the earth goes in circles of about 100 years based on temperatures ar certain times. its just coming around so its the hot part of that circle

Global Warming affects Singapore A LOT. It's really really warm in singapore. Even liverpool FC players wore some sort of a cooler round their bodies when playing in the friendly match yesterday.

Global Warming also increases floods in many countries. It takes away lives, many lives. I learn it's the greenhouse effect and the depletion of the ozone layer that causes this.

Where I live, they have made it so you can only have one garbage can, and the rest have to be recycling bins, or what we have now, green bins (which you put organic shit in, like fruit, vegetables, meat etc..) anything that breaks down basically.

yea theres nothing wrong with not being wasteful and recycling but you cant FORCE us to do stuff according to a "theory" that isnt true....like the Cap and trade bill" does....

Oklahoma also had one the hottest summers since the 90's.

Either way you can't deny the fact the earth is getting warmer. How do you explain the ice caps melting? The 100 year thing doesn't apply cause you just said Maine had a cold summer.

theyre not melting....see the media will show you that one picture with the polar bears in the middle of the water looking sad and thats supposed to prove that global warming is true. No just because they SAY the ice caps are melting dont believe it

Please. Can you just explain to me why?

Is the media, the President, and scientists just deliberately trying to mislead us? Did they all meet together under some bridge and contrive to plot against us by waging a cap and trade bill? Did they really meet together and say "hey look, maybe if we got the whole population to believe in this fake thing that the world was warming up, we could....tax companies a little bit more????"

Really? Is that what you think?

I mean, under your presumption that the experts on this area, combined with the media, are just misleading the public, under what pretense would this be done for?

Or, I have a better suggestion. Maybe open a book and understand the concepts behind global climate change, the greenhouse effect, and anything else you have an opinion on. Maine has a cold winter so there can't be global warming? Eminem released Touchdown, so that means he can't be a good rapper?

What kind of logical fallacies are you seriously jumping to? What's so frustrating is that so much of the population speaks their opinion with no factual basis supporting it. Please, I beg you, open your eyes a little bit, and while you're doing it--open a book.

What the fuck did Eminem come from...but anyway they have been dreaming for this situation since the 60's and 70's....in their "perfect world" they would have us riding bike, and living naked in some makeshift garden of eden. Yes I realize the climate is changing but its not changing because of what we are doing. If it was then how do you explain us getting out of the Ice Age. Where are all the evil SUVs and refiners then. Or maybe the cows and dinosaurs farted their ways out of it. The GW supporters want us to outlaw cows because they produce methane gas. Well for one thing ALL animals produce gas why just cows. And they really want to ban cows for a theory that hasnt really been proven. Like banning the Koran or Bible because evolution MIGHT have some validity.

So in your eyes, hippies are the true movers and shakers in this world? Not corporations? Not nations? No, those fucking hippies with their crazy let's just get along and hold hands. Damn. I knew those fuckers were really the ones who were achieving world domination while we sat back and tried to contain Standard Oil and Hitler! What the fuck were we doing! Those damn tree huggers slipped right under us.

Seriously?

If your theory that the earth keeps warming is true. How do you explain the earth having more then one ice age?

It's simple fact, all the gases we put into the air are pretty much destroying the earth.

I don't know what propaganda the right wing has been feeding you. But no one wants us naked or riding bikes. We just need to have cars that produce less poison.

Im not trying to piss you off or nothing cause i respect you but if you think the "right wing" is feeding me shit what about the Global warming shit that the Media which pretty much is the left wing. Just look at the facts of global warming and see that theres bigger holes in their theories then in the ozone

Well there is no denying the incredible environmental detriment the mass production of livestock has created. From hypoxia to the release of methane, there is a significant effect on the environment. But you still have ignored the fundamental point that Chet and I both raised in our last post.

Whenever there is an issue, there will be a certain amount of hyperbole. So perhaps what your trying to voice is that imminent doom by 2050 may not actually occur. And that may be a possibility, there might be some over exaggeration, but that does not mean you can deny that there is a problem.

hmm so whats the solution with the methane problem eliminate all animals that we think might release too much gas. Funny how people that believe that are in the same pool as the animal lovers that think all animals have rights.

Of course we don't want to kill all the animals. We want to lower the amount of methane the human race produces.

how though...by forcing people to do stuff like the CaTB enforces

I'm not here to propose a solution to the methane problem, because honestly, it's probably more important to solve transportation and industry emissions, as those contribute to the lion's share of emissions and subsequent problems.

As far as your snarky quip about animal lovers, well I wouldn't call myself necessarily an animal lover and definitely not a fan of peta. And of course animals can't have the same rights as us, they can't talk so how could they have free speech. Does that mean I feel like I could torture my dog and then kill it (if I had a dog, that is), well the simple answer is no. So yeah, if you think that "these people" who favor humane treatment of animals are retarded, then we have a fundamentally different view point.

All I'm saying is if you look at the increase of carbon levels and it's subsequent effect on climate change, I think you'd have to be quite reckless to examine that data and just say, "well, there's no way we can be responsible for it, 6.7 billion people have no effect on this planet". Because--maybe you're right. Maybe we have absolutely no effect. But are we really that arrogant as a human race to place a bet on our future? To place a bet on our children's future? I'd really hope not.
