Is the US President too Powerful

Postby wrestler1256 » Feb 16th, '10, 03:11

Do you guys think the president in the USA has too much power
our government was initially made to have all the powers seperated into the legislative, executive and judicial branches, but now it seems like the president has too much power ya know?

It only seems that way because the Democrats have a super majority in the house and the senate and they got the Executive position...

In Bush's case on the last half of his four years he didn't have the Republican's in the house...

I say only in the case of a super majority like it is now...But thats the American people that allowed that. Hell they voted em in...

On paper, no, the president is checked by the Legislative and Judicial branches.
However, a president with extemporaneous wit and and an articulate charisma can sway the people.
So yes, but not for the reason you were thinking.
Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.

Not really. I think people like to create the image of a leader but there always has been and always will be many chains of command.

When you've got an organization which is so money, profit and power agenda'd it's impossible not to have corruption, conspiracy, scandal and lies.

So you can bet the snakes in the grass wouldn't give up their home turf to one guy no matter how special he may look to the rest of us.

I have always felt, and still feel that the Judicial holds the true power. Even the activities of the legislative and executive have to fall within the lines drawn by the judicial, and those lines are very, VERY difficult to redraw.

However, I guess its good to have playing rules. So I will not say they are necessarily TOO powerful. The executive may seem more powerful over this past decade because there have been many 'commander in chief' type operations coming from it, activities which are largely unchecked.

I'm not from the US, but I think they do. It's just stunning how they hid 9/11, the flight to the moon, and so on...

No offense.

You know, that 'inside job' rumour, and I think it's true.

What about the flight to the moon?

The rumour that said USA never went there, which I also think it's true.

And I don't believe rumours that easily.

What would be the purpose of faking the moon landing..Honestly I see no gain in that...The world is controlled by money, not who has the best space program

You said yourself you don't believe rumours that easily so you must have a reason for thinking that.

well, early on obama talked about banning abortions. currently obama is making it okay to have eight month old pregnant women to have abortions. so basically the baby inside the woman is alive when the abortion is being done.

I saw a documentary which had proof that the moon landing is fake so that's the main reason. If I find it, I'll post it.

That's so wrong. Technically, that makes Obama a mass murderer.
